Kinglake National Park was created in 1928. It was named after English author and lawyer Alexander William Kinglake.

Kinglake National Park was originally owned by traditional Aboriginal people. The park is positioned within the traditional land of the Wurundjeri people to the South and Taungurung People to the North.

Kinglake National Park History

50 km North of Melbourne.Kinglake National Park lies on the slopes of the Great Dividing Range. It has wonderful views of the Melbourne City skyline, Port Phillip Bay, the Yarra Valley and the You Yangs. In the Park there is still evidence of shafts and diggings left from the 1920s gold mining days!

Where is Kinglake National Park Located?

Kinglake National Park is a good place to go camping, enjoy a bushwalk, have a picnic, go horse riding, cycling and do nature studies. People can also visit Masons Falls.

‘Sorry’ we can’t find the weather but I can tell you some things because I live close byIn Summer it can get very hot. It was very hot in 2009 and there was the Black Saturday fires!! Have you heard of the Black Saturday Bushfires in Victoria?In Autumn leaves fall off the trees and it can sometimes rain and can sometimes be hot, but not really hot.In Winter it will rain, but like I said the max would probably be 20 degrees, no higher.In Spring it can get hot but then change quickly!!

Weather

I would pack shorts, T-shirts, pants because it can be hot and then turn cold. I like living in Victoria because, I like my school, I like my house and I like the area I live in.

What kind of clothing should you where?

In the summer it gets very hot and there can be a high risk of a bush fire like the Black Saturday fires in 2009

In winter it gets very cold and sometimes it can snow

The best time of year to come would be in spring because it is not too cold and it is not too hot
