‘Who are you aiming your magazine specifically at?’

The magazine will be aimed at people of the trailer viewing age but mostly late teens and people in their 20’s. This is because the trailer’s main characters are young girls in their teens so those in their late teens/early 20’s will be able tor relate. However, even those who do not have an interest in the trailer may wish to read the remainder of the magazine as will contain much more content. This would be the secondary audience as they aren’t directly ‘buying’ the magazine for the trailer but still may happen to read that section of the magazine.

What will your magazine be about?

As it is a film magazine, typical contents would be interviews with those in the films featured, reviews on certain films as well as general information about new releases. As society has become more involved with the media there will also be a section where people could write their own reviews and recommendations.

What are your ideas for cover lines?

Cover lines such as the actors/actresses name may be featured. Also the film’s title will also be a big part as that will be the magazines main focus/selling point.

What title have you decided on and why?

As the magazine is based around films, the title needs to show easily what the magazine contains. Titles such as; “Screen”, “Film”, “Top Hits” or “Simply Screen”.

What fonts do you want to use?

The main cover line font needs to be in synergy with the trailer and poster but also needs to fit in with the genre of horror. An easy way to show that it is horror related is to use a stereotypical font as this allows the audience to quickly understand what the main focus is. However, to make this stand out even more, a more simple style font could be used for the rest of the magazine. As the whole magazine isn’t in the horror genre we need some of it to remain neutral and still apply to a variety of genres.

What kind of image do you expect to put on the front cover and how will you go about getting this image?

The front image needs to fit in with the trailer and poster so a character that is in the trailer will be used for the main image. There needs to be some horror element to it, however, we don’t want to over do it as the magazine is still based on a wide range of films so we do not want to alienate the readers as they may think that the magazine is completely based on the horror genre.

How frequently would it be published?

The magazine will be published monthly. This is because it is based upon films so there aren’t usually enough interesting updates to be able to publish it weekly. If the contents aren’t constantly interesting then it will lose readership so it’ll be better to publish it monthly.

What are the dimensions of the cover?

The magazine will be published in an A4 size as this is the most common and usual size for a magazine. By doing this it allows me to publish a variety of information and images that are clear to see.

What images/colour would you use?

The magazine front cover needs to have some element of a horror genre. The easiest way to allow the reader to understand would be to follow stereotypical colour conventions such as blacks and red. However, if the whole front cover basis on those colours it will lose its appeal so other neutral colours such as blacks and whites will also be used. Also there needs to be a more brighter, eye-catching colour to allow the magazine to stand out and not look boring.
