This workshop presents students with strategies for successfully preparing, developing, and completing writing with a group. It offers strategies such as establishing a timeline, selecting member roles, and following a writing process.

Step 3: Brainstorm andOutlineThere are many ways togenerate ideas, but we willfocus on the groupbrainstorming session.Choose a method andcommit to it.Start by identifying the typeof writing, the audience,and the purpose of thedocument.10 11. Brainstorming TechniquesShare your ideas with thegroup. Dont hold back,and dont be judgmental.Pick the strongest ideas,and then discuss themfurther.Decide on your mainpoints.11 12. Group OutliningOnce you have your mainpoints, develop sub-points foreach topic.Create a group outline to giveto each member.Divide the work into sectionsbased on interests andstrengths.Make sure to divide the workequitably!12 13. Step 4: Compose a First DraftMembers shouldindividually composetheir sections based onthe group outline.Once finished, send thesections to an editor whowill combine them intoone document.13 14. Step 5: Compose a Second DraftOnce the editor puts thedocument together, meetagain to read the wholepaper together and revise.Discuss the edits andrevamp the outline.Group members shouldimprove their sectionsbased on the new outlineand re-submit them to theeditor.14 15. Step 6: Prepare a Final VersionThe editor should combinerevised sections to create afinal polished product.The editor should developa consistent voice,formatting and style.Consider submitting thepaper to turnitin.com.15 16. Step 7: ProofreadEveryone must check thefinal printed copy.All members should lookfor grammar, punctuation,and spelling errors.Carefully check the paperfor proper documentationand citation.Discuss and agree uponfinal edits.16 17.
