Math StrategiesCounting:Count on from a given number…We ask the children to count from 27 to 40,

Word Problems:*There were 3 crabs, some where in the nest, and some where out of

the nest. How many can be in and out of the nest? *Look at the picture. Come up with 3 subtraction math stories to

describe the pictures.

Comparing 2-D/3-D shapes:We ask the students to describe likenesses and differences of shapes using comparison vocabulary…sides, corners, vertices, faces

At Home Strategies

• Use real life word problem conversations with your child.

• When out in the community ask your child to recognize numbers and try to count up to the nearest 10.

• Encourage your child to do “Math Talk” to explain how they came up with their answers.
