STAGE ONE

We decided to use our own magazine as we wanted it to be teen magazine but it would be a health issue. This would focus on mental and physical illness. We made a mind map of various mast head names and finally settled for ‘INSPIRE’ we thought this could be a teen inspirational magazine, making teenagers more influenced by good things and teaching/ informing them of anxiety and depression. We chose to have simple layout as we thought this would be more appealing to teenagers (our target audience). By focusing on the health issue we thought that this fit our narrative well as it is based on mental health issues.

STAGE TWO

We used Photoshop to make our magazine cover as we felt it had many tools that we could use to help layer the magazine. We used a head shot of the protagonist as it connotes direct address, incising the audience to buy the magazine. We used the eraser tool to trim round the edge of the main image and then place it on a white background.

STAGE THREE

Once we knew the masthead and had the main image onto a page we could then add conventional aspects to the magazine such as skyline, websites and additional information. We used three colours in our magazine to create a theme. We chose the theme of health as it was a health issue. We chose green for the connotations of nature and healthiness and we chose black and grey to they could be seen against the plain white background. As this is a teen magazine we decided to have a twitter account linked and a hashtag so people could contact us if they had any questions.
