Building Business Relations: Become an MBA-Mentor www.msm.nl Working together for better global management The World in One Classroom The MBA cohort at the Maastricht School of Management is one of the most international classrooms in the Netherlands. The class of 2014 consists of 61 students from 25 nationalities, who all have valuable perspectives, networks and knowledge of the global business environment to share, not only with one another but also with the business and government community in the Netherlands. Our MBA students have at least a Bachelor’s degree and three years of working experience. The International Management Mentorship Program MsM has developed the International Management Mentorship as a platform to link our talented, experienced and diverse group of MBA students on an individual basis to representatives of the Dutch business community and governmental institutions. This match allows mentors and students to build mutually beneficial and durable networks and relationships. For MBA students, the mentorship program is a unique and much appreciated opportunity to gain insights into Dutch business and governance know-how. The initiative is also valued by local representatives, who see it as a chance to broaden their personal knowledge of foreign business cultures and expertise. The precise content of the mentorship is jointly determined by the mentor and the student. Professional interaction is the main objective of the mentorship; experience shows however that the most durable and beneficial relationships are most often built in the cultural and social sphere. Nominated for the Nuffic Orange Carpet Award in 2014 Become a Mentor The management mentorship program is coordinated and monitored by the MsM Career Office. At the start of the academic year, students provide a short personal profile that serves as basis for the match-making process with potential mentors. When there is a match a first meeting is set up. Participating students are asked to write a brief report detailing his or her experiences after each meeting. At the end of the year both students and mentors are asked to share their feedback with the Career Office. We kindly invite you to contact us to become a mentor and to help us build business bridges between the Netherlands and the rest of the world! “My mentor and I soon discovered that we were both interested in sustainable development. My mentor happened to be well-vested in issues of sustainable energy. In the light of climate change issues and considering that my country is beginning to put sustainable energy sources in the fore of development initiatives, I learned a lot from him.” Morgan Mwesa - MBA29 student from Zambia For any further questions or remarks please contact: Mrs. Ellen Narinx - Schrauwen, MA Senior Officer MsM Career Office E-mail: [email protected], Tel: 043 - 387 08 80
