Together at the first time to know a different world:

We chose this theme because the globalisation has made us all eat the same thing, in more or less the same way,

forgetting our own culture and traditions. We are going to have a journey back in time through traditional food in our countries, the aim is to make people get rid of fast food by choosing slow food, because fast food is dangerous both to health and environment. Moreover it gradually destroys the best part of the culture of every nation: its food. It is

also dangerous to have a few large companies monopolise the food industry and control both industry and our

personal lives.

Traditional food

from

two different worlds

Page 10: Mondialogo perfect _

We start…

Page 11: Mondialogo perfect _

We never know how much can unite the differences, for learn about it I want to tell you about differences and love…

Page 12: Mondialogo perfect _

In Germany there was a world gastronomic presentation with the participation of many countries . Greece, whose representative was the sensual one Odyssey, opened the

event saying:

¡Hello! my name is Odyssey, I am native of Greece and today I come to present you the marvellous thing that my country is, and its food that is the most rich of the world.

Wait! Your food Is NOT the most rich of the world, therefore in my Mexico cooks exquisite.

But that is imposible! Let me introduce myself: I am Cocombo from the country that reallly has the best food of the world: Mexico!

¡Excuseme! But this is my presentation and I believe that already your moment arrived, so with your permission……. I was telling to all that the food is a delight, and its high content of nutrients makes it it the best

Page 13: Mondialogo perfect _

Then the things began to leave badly between the participants of Mexico and Greece, causing that they were expel automatically of the event, and they discussed for a lot of time. As in someone has to fit the prudence Odyssey suggested…..

Page 14: Mondialogo perfect _

¿Why don´t we do a travel to decide which food is the best? We are not able to contest! As already you said

Let me tell you, that Odyssey means "Odysseus, long journey back to his island, Ithaca, after the Trojan War".

Page 15: Mondialogo perfect _

So they went by airplane to the closer point:

¡The Greek Islands!

So, dear Cocombo we’re going to visit Peristery, wich is a suburb of Athens. Here my friends from 14th secondary school are going to do a symposia for you because for Greeks food and wine has always been a good starting point to get together with friends and family, to discuss things, to enjoy themselves and share a moment of time… the symposia were gatherings of men who dine, drank and discussed. During them musicians and dancing girls entertained the symposiasts.

Page 18: Mondialogo perfect _

So symposium is a mens

drinking party?

Yes, but now women also can

enjoy it!

Page 19: Mondialogo perfect _

Can you tell me, what are we

going to enjoy?

In ancient times most communities were agricultural, so fruit and vegetables were readily available; People ate fruit and vegetables daily. They also kept sheep and goats and made their own cheese and yogurt.

Fish, eggs and poultre (such as chicken) were consumed weekly. Fishing was a common occupation in coastal areas. As you see the main

part of our daily diet consisted, and consist, of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, beans and lentils.

Page 22: Mondialogo perfect _

As you must know, the olive is one of the oldest cultivated trees in the Mediterranean and it is also the symbol of our culture. It was highly appreciated that it was considered by ancient

Greeks to be a gift of the goddess Athena to the state of Athens. Its product (fruit, oil) characterize the Mediterranean diet. Many investigations have shown the valuable properties of olive oil:

like anti-oxidants, precious for preventing cell aging, mono- and poly-unsaturated fats important for preventing cardio vascular

diseases. Uncooked, olive oil makes food more tasty and appetizing.

Page 23: Mondialogo perfect _

It seems me very interesting, now touches me to presume the gastronomy of my

country. As you offered me a symposium I invite you to a Mexican night which is full of Mexican tradition and the food is based

on the many uses of the corn that serves to prepare beverages, desserts, and other

plates and the traditional thing that is the “tortilla”.

And what is a tortilla?

Page 24: Mondialogo perfect _

Page 25: Mondialogo perfect _

The tortilla is a dish or a low edible spoon, rich in calories and in nutrients, since is 100% of corn, and the famous “Tacos” that consists of rolling up the tortilla with a little piece of food, salt or alone.

Page 26: Mondialogo perfect _

An example of how employ it in the Mexican plates they are the “tacos of chicken”, and Rafael will support us with this recipe that was taught by its grandmother to his mom to delighted our palates. There is sopes too

Page 27: Mondialogo perfect _

What is a sope ?

A tortilla of 5cm thickness approximately, with an edge by way the beans fall not

therefore they carry them greased over the sope, and Mariana knows how to prepare exquisitely especially for this so special

night.

Page 28: Mondialogo perfect _

What is a Mexican night

certainly?

Page 29: Mondialogo perfect _

It is a celebration that generally is carries out September 15 at night, in commemoration of the

anniversary of our independence, with plates, beverages, traditions and Mexican music,

because some times we forget us what is to be Mexicans, and that night causes recalls us ours

passed and our values.

Page 30: Mondialogo perfect _

We drink wine, what do you drink in

Mexico?

Page 31: Mondialogo perfect _

A lot of beverages, for example, the pulque, the tequila, the mezcal, or the tejuino that Giovanni

prepares based on the fermentation of the shell of pineapple and is taken fried; the atole of corn that the grandmother of Mireya wants to prepare us to

sweeten us with traditional beverage…etc.

Page 32: Mondialogo perfect _

I want to know, what is the mole?

Page 33: Mondialogo perfect _

In my country the huazontles are cooked accompanied by an exquisite red mass,

mole, that is prepared with red dry Chiles, chocolate, nuts… a sample of the exquisite

Mexican traditional mole is going to be prepare for us by Guadalupe.

Page 34: Mondialogo perfect _

And, who is going to prepare the

huazontles?

Page 35: Mondialogo perfect _

Oh, it will be Alma’s mom, which this recipe through its

grandmother knows that teach to prepare them and that are a delight for the Mexican palate, therefore its preparation is with high elements in vitamins, proteins, and mineral.

Page 36: Mondialogo perfect _

I have give me account that, although

our countries are different in their

gastronomy, the two are excellent, its

traditions are precious and…

Page 39: Mondialogo perfect _

people?

Page 40: Mondialogo perfect _
