Target Audience & Needs

I think the target audience for this video is aimed at a male audience because of the images of woman that appear later on in the video. I think for an older and a younger generation such as teens and students. I think there needs would be to have a lot of images of woman which the video does contain.

Lyrics (Meaning Implied?)

The lyrics of this song imply that it is about feelings that the lead singer Alex Turner has for someone and he hopes that they are mutual feelings. I know this from the line “Do I wanna know if this feeling flows both ways?” Also, the lyrics “crawlin’ back to you ever thought of calling when you’ve had a few cos I always do” can suggest that he still got feelings this mystery person who could be a past relationship or a crush he has on someone that he cannot get over.

Tempo The tempo is not very fast nor very slow. We then are introduced, after 6 seconds to an electric guitar with a slow tempo.

Genre I have identified the genre for this song as Indie Rock, because of the instruments used such as electric guitars, drums and vocals.

Camera Technique We are first introduced to a camera technique that could be argued as a mid-shot as we see the volume line for the bass guitar. Another technique that we see is a tracking shot following the volume line along. We then see a tracking shot of a woman’s boots which the camera follows until she stops and we see a zoom out shot showing her full body and we are then introduced to other females. We then see another zoom out shot showing more female character placing tyres one in front of the other in time with the beat of the drums. We then see close ups of certain bodily features of woman.

Editing In this video I found that there were two types of editing techniques; one of these was cutting from one shot to another and the other technique was images morphing into each other to show another scene.

Use of Digital Effects The only digital effects that I identified was the use of colours; at the beginning of the music video we only see black and white images until later on in the video we start seeing some use of colour but not very much. However, towards the end of the video we do see a lot more use of colour, we also see some coloured images changing back into black and white.
