VERSE 1AND 2There’s a stranger in my bed,

Lighting up a cigarette looking at me like he’s lost. There’s a letter by his side,

Burning with the reasons why,Our mask has finally dropped.

I have an image of the two actors in their bed: him lighting up the cigarette, looking into space and occasionally looking at her. This is while the female is lip syncing (all in a mls). Then we cut to a close up to the letter on the bedside table. With this, after the close up of the letter, we pan up to the male as he’s looking at the female as he’s realised that she has discovered what he is really like.

PRE-CHORUSCause now he looks at me,

And it’s like I don’t even know him,

And when he touches me,I’ve forgotten how to hold him.

The male character moves over to the middle of the bed and hugs her. There is a close up on her face and she looks like she doesn’t want to hug him. She look disappointed.

CHORUSHow can you call it love if you never show your face?Did we fall in love in the middle of in the middle of a

masquerade, the middle of a masquerade?

In the woods with the male and female dancing like you would do in a masquerade. Also with the masquerade mask on.

VERSE 3Now there’s a foreign taste on his tongue,I’m trying to translate what we’ve become,

But I can make sense of him when we’re together.

This scene is going to be on the sofa and having them watching television but not sitting together (two shot ls). She’s lip syncing: ‘I can make sense of him when we’re together’ as she walks over to the sofa he is sitting on and sits next to him on the sofa.

VERSE 4And maybe I got caught up in

dreams,And it wasn’t quite what it

seems,But you can’t hold the truth

forever.

In this part, I was planning that the male character says (whispers) something in the ear of the of the female character. CU of her face which shows her facial expression. This sets up what is going to happen in the next scene. While they are sitting nicely together on the sofa watching television.

PRE-CHORUS

Cause now he talks to me,And it’s like I don’t even know him,

And when he touches me, I’ve forgotten to how to hold him.

She (the female character), lip syncs to: ‘cause now he talks to me’, the music stops and we cut to them shouting/having an argument – he raises his hand to her* – implied violence. The music starts back up, the female character is lip syncing to: ‘and it’s like I don’t even know him. The music stops again with the male apologising to her. They go in for a hug and the music starts and she doesn’t hug him back while singing: ‘when he touches me, I’ve forgotten how to hold him’ (MCU).

*If the actors I have chosen don’t feel comfortable raising a hand, then I am happy for the violence to be implied in a different way: throwing a cushion across the room or thumping hands down on the sofa.

CHORUSHow can you call it love if you never show your face?Did we fall in love in the middle of, the middle of the

masquerade?

For this chorus, I wanted the characters walking through the forest with the male leading the female over the bridge – they still have their masks on in their nice dress/suit. We follow the female then the male.

AFTER CHORUS

Now the one I fell for is gone without a trace,Did we fall in love in the middle of,

The middle of a masquerade,The middle of a masquerade?

The male has disappeared without a trace. There is a MCU of her while she sings: ‘now the one I fell for is gone without trace..’ – she takes her mask off, throws it on the floor and runs off.

VERSE 5Tell me do we fall in love:

By the bedside (I don’t even know who you are)On the train ride (I don’t even know who you are)

With his shoes tied (I don’t even know who you are)And your brown eyes (I don’t even know who you are)When you touch me (I don’t even know who you are)

I your blue jeans (I don’t even know who you are)Say you love me (I don’t even know who you are)

But you don’t know me (I don’t even know who you are)Say you love me (I don’t even know who you are)Say you love me, in the middle of a masquerade

In this final verse, we go back to the opening shot of them on the bed where the female is sitting on the bed while the male is having still. She lip syncs to the lyrics in the verse (mls). When she sings to the last two lines of the song, she reaches for the letter and it says: ‘I LOVE YOU *love heart x2*
