What do you see when you look at these images?

In these images I see beauty, freedom, fearlessness, boldness etc…

The things I SEE are who I want to be.

In 1826 the first permanent photograph (later accidentally destroyed) was an image produced by the French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. In 1832, French-Brazilian painter and inventor Hercules Florence had already created a very similar process, naming it Photographie. Although colour photography was explored throughout the 19th century, initial experiments in colour resulted in projected temporary images, rather than permanent colour images. The first colour photo, an additive projected image of a tartan ribbon, was taken in 1861 by the Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell.

Look- Don’t take for granted the sights around you.

See- Looking alone is viable, See into what your looking at.

Time- Take time to capture the image you see.

Light- Photography is mastery of the use of light.

Learning- You can see and learn new things about Photography everyday.

Appreciation- We should appreciate what we see through the lens.

When we look, the first thing we see is colour. Colours have different representations and are associated with various meanings

Red - Anger, Passion Pink- JoyOrange - Energy Black- Gloom,

MysteryYellow - Positively White- PurenessGreen - Growth, NewnessBlue - CalmnessPurple- Peace

The photographer may use colour representation to make the view feel a certain way, which may emphasise the message or question he/she is presenting .

When I look at images they are a type of symbolism e.g. the image of the forest I think symbolizes adventure because of the path, and the mist represents mystery. This links with the person I want to be, because I would like take on the characteristic I see in the image. These representations join with colours and the image would bring forward characteristics of growth, adventure and mystery.

Each time I look or see an image of something, it questions my identity ‘who am I’. I believe that photography is a form of communication. Every time an image is shown I think that it either questions or presents a message.

The message or question presented by the photographer makes the viewer question themselves ‘Is this what I want to be?’ Or if the message is a positive one it makes the viewer decide to become the message the photo presents.

Cooley’s theory is closely linked with photography, but the reflection of ourselves is presented by the photographer. The reflection comes through the photo to show us how we really are. So every image we see may be a mirror depending on who the person is.

I think that what I see is beautiful and in order to take on the characteristics of what I see, I take a photograph. This reminds me each time I see it to take on the characteristic of what I see. So in context I become the positive things that I see.
