Neutron Stars• What is a neutron stars?

Are extremely dense collapsed stars sometimes left behind after a core –collapse supernova explosion.

• When is a neutron stars created?Neutron stars are created when giant stars die in supernovas and their cores collapse, with the protons and electrons essentially melting into each other to form neutrons.

Neutron Stars

• Fluid core: neutron stars pack their mass inside.

• 20-kilometer (12.4 miles) diameter.

• 1,5 suns of mass.• Massive core : 1,7-

kilometer of thickness.• Stars 1.4 to 3 times as

massive as the SUN.

Superfluido de Neutrones.Protones superconductores.

WHITE DWARF

Page 5: Neutron stars and white dwarfs

White Dwarf• What is a white dwarf?

Is a stella remnant composed mostly of electron-degenerate matter. They are very dense; a white dwarf’s mass is comparable to that of the Sun, and its volume is comparable to that of the Earth.

White Dwarf• What will happen?

The sun will expand into a red giant star, in 5 billion years from now, its outer layers engulfing the planets Mercury, Venus and possibly the Earth, it will shrink into a hot and dense White dwarf.
