Finding Futures Equine Learning Program

The two learning groups from the Winter / Spring program have all been amazingly diligent and turned up consistently during the wet and cold weather we have had over the past few months. It has been lovely having an indoor arena available and an accesible classroom to heat us up in between activities. A big thank you to Tracy from Unicorn Park for accommodating the ELEA programs. It is wonderful to have access to these first class facilities.

The participants have experienced this learning through the platform of experiential learning with the horses. They have then embodied this learning and gone out to practice these skills in everyday life

August 2012 – Finding Futures homework pieces

“Horses have shown me that it is not so terrifying to be part of a team because of their non judgemental state of being. I have also learnt that authentic voice is from your heart not your head / ego. Coming from your heart is a place of beauty honoring and truth. “ Client A

“The most important things I have learnt today are mindfulness and congruence. It is very important for me to learn how to use these tools in my every day life so I can make things better such as being mindful and grounding myself so I can learn to respond not react to situations and people. And also to be congruent , it’s very important to be aware of our feelings and to own them. Being Congruent is owning it and it’s ok to be like “I’m pissed off, but I own it” Client B

It was a great day in August to have 15 young adults from the Ballarat Community come and attend a day of learning with the ELEA horses. The group came with open hearts and open minds. Through the course of the day they experienced learning based around self awareness, problem solving, authenticity, connection and awareness of self on others. Some feedback from the group included

• After today I realize I have more control on the energy I am bringing into the environment

• I was able to see how my thoughts and moods had an external effect

• This was really enjoyable and a great way to learn
