Chomsky came up with the idea of the Language

Acquisition Device (LAD). The LA D is a language

organ that is hardwired into our brains at birth.

The LAD contains knowledge of grammatical rules

common to all languages. Because of this, Child is

born with the ability to understand and develop

language. LAD also allows children to understand the rules of whatever language they are listening to.
