Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)

• Alfalfa also called Lucerne, is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae cultivated as an important forage crop in many countries around the world.

• The Spanish-Arabic name alfalfa is widely used, particularly in North America and Australia.

• But in the UK, South Africa and New Zealand, the more commonly used name is Lucerne.

• It superficially resembles clover, with clusters of small purple flowers followed by fruits spiraled in 2 to 3 turns containing 10-20 seeds.

• Alfalfa is native to warmer temperate climates.• It has been cultivated as livestock fodder since at least the

era of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

Aloe Vera• Aloe Vera is a succulent plant species that is found only

in cultivation, having no naturally occurring populations, although closely related aloes do occur in northern Africa.

• The species is frequently cited as being used in herbal medicine since the beginning of the first century AD.

• Extracts from Aloe Vera are widely used in the cosmetics and alternative medicine industries, being marketed as variously having rejuvenating, healing, or soothing properties.

• There is, however, little scientific evidence of the effectiveness or safety of Aloe Vera extracts for either cosmetic or medicinal purposes, and what positive evidence is available is frequently contradicted by other studies.

Arnica (America Montana)

• Arnica is a genus with about 30 perennial, herbaceous species, belonging to the sunflower family.

• The genus name Arnica may be derived from the Greek arna, "lamb", in reference to the soft, hairy leaves.

• This circumboreal and Montana genus occurs mostly in the temperate regions of western North America, while two are native to Eurasia.

Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera)

• Withania Somnifera, known commonly as Ashwagandha, Indian ginseng, poison gooseberry, or winter cherry, is a plant in the Solanaceae or nightshade family.

• Several other species in the genus Withania are morphologically similar.

• It is used as an herb in Ayurvedic medicine.

Papaya (Carica papaya)

• The papaya is the fruit of the plant Carica papaya, the sole species in the genus Carica of the plant family Caricaceae.

• It is native to the tropics of the Americas, perhaps from southern Mexico and neighboring Central America.

• It was first cultivated in Mexico several centuries before the emergence of the Mesoamerican classical civilizations.

Lavender (Lavandula officinalis)

• Lavender is a genus of 39 species of flowering plants in the mint family.

• It is native to the Old World and is found from Cape Verde and the Canary Islands, southern Europe across to northern and eastern Africa, the Mediterranean, southwest Asia to southeast India.

• Many members of the genus are cultivated extensively in temperate climates as ornamental plants for garden and landscape use, for use as culinary herbs, and also commercially for the extraction of essential oils.

Black Radish

• The black radish (Raphanus sativus niger) is an annual root vegetable and a member of the or Brassica family.

• The black radish is also known as Spanish radish.

• Today, the black radish is commonly utilized to make herbal supplements available in capsule and tincture form and used to treat a variety of health aliments.

Pumpkin(Cucurbita pepo)

• Pumpkin is the name of a plant that refers to certain cultivars of squash, that are round, with smooth, slightly ribbed skin and deep yellow to orange coloration.

• The thick shell contains the seeds and pulp.

• Specific cultivars of winter squash derived from other species, which are also sometimes called “pumpkin”.

• In New Zealand and Australia, this term generally refers winter squash.
