The Interview:

1)Is getting married the most important decision in a person’s life? Once a person gets married, he/she has to spend almost their entire life with their partner under the same roof. If by chance, a wrong partner has been chosen then it would be impossible to live with him/her and their marriage would finally end up being broken. Hence, marriage is the most important decision in a person’s life

2) Describe a traditional Indian wedding in India you have been to.

A wedding ceremony in India includes many small events held prior to the big day. These pre wedding functions usually stretch for quite a long time and add to the charm of wedding ceremonies. The first of these occasions is the Shagun. In this, members from both families meet and get to know each other. The family of the bridegroom gifts the bride various gifts and sweets. The next ceremony is the Engagement ceremony where exchange of rings takes place. The one next up is Sangeet. This is one of the most exciting

pre wedding function wherein both the families put on a grand show for the bride and bride groom in the evening with dance and music. In this occasion, the friends and family members of the bride and bride groom also try to rewind those days of their childhood, school days and collage days which adds up to the excitement. The next function is called Mehendi wherein the bride’s hands and legs are traditionally decorated by mehendi.

The last function is called Baarat. This is the wedding procession that proceeds from the groom’s place to the wedding venue. After all these ceremonies, the main wedding commences. The very next day, the bride is sent to the bridegroom’s place and this is called Vidai. Last but not the least, the Reception. This is celebrated just a day after the wedding in which all the family and friends celebrate with the newly wedded couple.

3)Do you think that marriage has a different significance to different classes of people?

India is diverse in its cultural and religious structure and each culture has its peculiar nuance within the framework of the wedding ceremony. The significance of weddings differ for the wealthy and the less fortunate people. The less fortunate suffer from many financial problems and for them marriage is the only light where they can stand by their own.

4) Do you think love is the only reason for a person to get married? If not, then what other reasons are important?

Getting married is a very important decision in a person’s life. Only loving someone is not the most important reason to get married. The person should be financially stable, should be well qualified, mannered, should be respectful to elders, e.t.c. It is also very important to have the support of your family to get married. They need to accept that partner you have chosen from their heart. If they don’t think that the person is right for you, then he/she probably isn’t. Hence, Love is not the only reason for a person to get married.

5) Do you think that the personality of a person changes after getting married?

A persons nature doesn’t usually remain the same. It changes from time to time. If your surroundings change, it is very normal if it affects your personality. Well, it doesn’t effect everyone but those, who are slightly gullible. Hence, after getting married it is possible for a person’s personality to change.
