PRELIMINARY TASK

The photograph represents a student girl, with summer clothes.

The blurred background highlights the girl. The high quantity of light and the girl's clothes let us assume that the picture was taken during the spring or the summer.

As the other front cover, the titles' colours are alternated in order to have a nice an easy reading presentation.

The articles target the young people. Indeed, there is an interview of Tucker Max , which is acting as a young and insouciant man ( and a lot of students can identify to him) with a striking quote " he better hope they serve beer in hell", which draws the readers' attention and make them want to read more.

In cover, there is also titles about students issues as pregnancy and drugs.

Front Cover ‘s Analysis

The title of this magazine is College lifestyle, which tells us immediately the genre of the magazine and its content.

This front cover magazine shows a mid shot of a student , who carries books ( "Law, Business and Society") which connotes his high education. His clothes are young and fashionable, he looks like the perfect student.

The background is all grey, in order to emphasize the importance of the main photograph, and the titles.

The " Dancehall's bright future" seems to be the main article in this magazine, as it is bigger than all the others title.

The other titles are all targeting the student audience, they talks about what it is important in their life : tuition fees issues " make money on campus", week end parties " Thank God it's Friday", fashion " college couture" , technology " why we love blackberry " and holidays " the ultimate spring break escape".

Moreover, the titles' colours are alternated, yellow and white, in order to make the front cover easier to read.

There is also an article about paintballing in the form of a pink splat, which draws the readers' attention.

This contents page shows more article than the other one. However, it still really clear and well organised.

The three pictures are simple but represent well the students' life, and the readers can identify to the models, as they seem to be just normal pupils .

the titles and the pages are highlighted by the bold font. It is easy to read .

Front Cover ‘s Content

This contents are really simple with its presentation, and in the same time really easy reading. There is not a lot of articles, so there is a lot of spaces.

The three pictures are related by the articles thanks to the number of the pages. This system makes the reading and knowledge of the content of the articles easier and clear.

There is also a section " regulars" , which is for the usual articles.

All this presentation is clear and simple.

First of all, I analysed two front coverts and contents pages to realise how they present a college magazine page, and how they make it look easy reading. Needing to produce myself a front cover and a contents page, I learnt how to use Idesign and thus, thanks to my analysis as well, how to create a front cover and contents pages which are simple, clear and pleasant to read. I choose pictures that I took myself, in photography or during my trips. I tried to combine the impression of realism and closeness with the audience that my holidays pictures produce ( indeed, they represent usual students, as the audience or their friends) and the effect more professional that they could feel, the front cover and the one with the bubble speech, which I think, look like the pictures quality of a real magazine.

However, I aware that it still quite simple and that not really show incredible computing skills. I know that now that I understand the basic settings, I need to improve my work, to create pages which seem more professional and can attractive more with their presentation.If I would do it again, I would like to insert more changes: some funnier frames, different colors and fonts, a design more original, and a layout less obvious. I would also try to take really related and beautiful pictures, that I will edit to make it seem the most skilled possible. I would like to understand and learn more about everything that I can do with the program and thus use my new abilities that I will own.
