Task What went wellWhat went wrong

What I will do in the future

Preliminary Planning Task One – Radio Station/show names & conventions and Target Audience planning

Creating the radio station was fairly simplistic as we worked together and

quickly thought of a catchy name which would appeal to our age. The genre of

radio station was also fairly easy to choose because we all liked the same type of music and therefore came to a decision quickly. It was easy to pick our target audience because we wanted the radio station to appeal to ourselves and

our age. We were also confident with the conventions of radio which helped us

later on to create the radio broadcast as we knew what needed to be included.

I feel that we had no problems with the initial planning in task 1 because we all get along, all have the same interests in music and are all the

same age and therefore we came to a decision quickly and nothing went

wrong.

If I was to repeat this task in the future, I would not change anything we did because we worked well as a

team and came to our decisions quickly. We also researched everything we needed to research and

included everything that was relevant to help us in the plan and we shared out the work evenly so I would

definitely to all this again in the future.

Preliminary Planning Task Two – Identifying team

roles, sourcing examples of archive clips, flow chart of broadcast structure and

script writing

Identifying team roles was fairly straight forward as I was keen to put myself forward to

pursue the role as a presenter. One of the group members were keen to be a guest

because he is in already in a local band and therefore would be a likely guest on a radio

broadcast. Due to this, it was easy to make the decision as to would be the guest and who

would be the presenter. For our archive clip, we used a snippet of one of the group

member’s song’s which he had already recorded and therefore it was easy to choose this as our archive clip. What went well with

the flow chart of broadcast structure and script writing was the fact that we split the jobs that needed doing. I did the flip chart structure and

the other group members worked on the script. It was easy to decide the structure of

the broadcast because I was very familiar with how a radio broadcast is usually set out. The script writing was also easy as we were all confident in what we wanted to say and

therefore the task was completed quickly.

I feel that nothing went wrong as, like the

preliminary planning task 1, we got on with the tasks quickly as we split them up

between the three of us. We worked well as a team

and made decisions quickly and therefore we had no

problems.

In the future, I would do exactly the same because I feel like we got on well with the tasks as we split them up to make them

easier and therefore I feel like we did everything we needed to do in the time we

had.

Creating a jingleCreating my jingle went well because I

used music in my jingle that was relevant to the genre of our radio

Although I used music that was relevant to the genre of our radio station it took

station. Recording our ident also went well because in general I thought it was

very easy to record and we knew the name of the radio station and knew the tone of voice we were going to use due

to our target audience.

me a while to decide what music clip I wanted to use

as I was indecisive and therefore the process took

longer than I thought.

Using Audition

At first I found using audition hard because I had never used the software before but once I got used to it I used it

to my advantage and played around with effects that would sound good on my

jingle.

Once I had learnt how to work audition I found it easy to edit my radio

broadcast to improve it and therefore there

weren’t any problems. I also feel like I included everything I needed to

make it sound the best I could.

In the future, I would try to work faster as initially it took me a while to navigate around

the software and I was indecisive in what effects I wanted to use but now I know how to use the software I feel like I would work

faster in the future.

Recording in the Studio

I thoroughly enjoyed recording in the studio as I found it fun to experiment with the microphone and therefore I

found recording in the studio very easy and enjoyable. We found no problems with using the software and we had no problems with recording our voices so

everything went reasonably well.

On the first take, one of our group members

messed up their lines so we had to record it again but other than that minor mistake everything went

well.

In the future I would practise reading the script before recording so we are less likely

to mess up our lines.

Recording using a Dictaphone

Recording with a Dictaphone was really easy and straightforward so we got it

done quickly.Nothing went wrong as we found the Dictaphone easy to use and we knew

what we wanted to say when recording and therefore we had no problems.

I would not change anything in the future because I feel like we got on really well with

recording using the Dictaphone.

Editing using Audition Audition kept freezing I would do nothing different in the future as I

Editing using Audition took a while to get used to as I had never used the software

before but once I had gotten used to navigating around the software I feel as though editing my radio broadcast went really well. Throughout the broadcast I made sure there were no silences by fading the music in and out to avoid it

just skipping and therefore I made it flow really well. I also used a vocal enhancer to make my voice sound different when editing my jingle. I also used the volume

editing such as using a sound bed to prevent radio silence and make it sound

better.

when I was trying to edit it and therefore it took longer

than I thought it would.

feel like I did everything I could to make it sound good, such as using a sound bed and

fading in and out and also using a voice enhancer. However, if I was to do it in the

future I would add more effects.

Team work

Team work went extremely well which allowed us to get our work done quickly

and efficiently as we made decisions quickly and split the work out between the 3 of us so there were no problems

with team work.Nothing went wrong with

team work.In the future I would not change anything

regarding team work.

Blogging

I had no problems with blogging as I found it easy to export the videos onto youtube and then create a blog post.

Nothing went wrong with blogging.

In the future I would not change anything I did regarding blogging.

Individual contribution to your team

I researched interviewing techniques and therefore contributed to my team by

having knowledge of interviews. I also did the structural grid for the radio

broadcast to ensure we all knew what

Nothing went wrong with individual contribution to

my team.

I would do nothing extra in the future as I feel like I did everything I could to contribute

to the work.

the structure of the radio broadcast would be like. I also contributed to the

script and the editing.

Class work

I met deadlines and did all the homework that was required.

Nothing went wrong with the class work as I did all the homework and met

deadlines.

I would look over my notes after class discussions to make sure I know all the

interviewing techniques.

Independent work (work outside of lessons)

I researched interviewing techniques and therefore contributed to my team by

having knowledge of interviews.Nothing went wrong with

independent work.I would not change anything in the future.
