STORYBOARD

This illustration shows the narrative for the first verse. For the first thirteen seconds of the start, guitar is being played, here we are planning to use a male performer to play the guitar and lip sink the first line of the song, “I will write it down”. The shot we are planning to use is a close-up shot of the performer’s hands playing the guitar or a mid-shot with the performer in the shot. However, if the male performer does not work out then we have an alternative choice which is to do location shots of locations that are going to be later in the music video.

This illustration also represents the narrative for the first verse. For the second and third line (“…every word that you should know about where I've been since I've gone”) we decided to use a female performer holding a heart locket and a close-up of her holding the locket near her chest area tightly and for the third line (“… where I've been since I've gone) we have decided to do a stop motion of the locket opening. The use of close-up is a good shot because it will show how much she misses someone.

This illustration also shows the narrative for the first verse. For the fourth and fifth line (… “I will paint the words with everything that I feel”) we are planning to use a female/male artist in a field with his/her arms wide open and an animation speech bubble from her/his mouth. Finally for the sixth line (…“every sunset, every dawn”) we are planning to use a location shot when the sun rises and sets. The main shot that will be used for these line in a long-shot. We’ve chosen this type of shot to show the full meaning of the words on pictures.

This illustration shows the narrative for the second verse. For the lines 7,8,9 (… “I've kept you by my side you've never left my mind you got me through my darkest nights”) we have decided to use male performer who is standing next to his mum’s grave (use of mid-shot here) and lip-sinking line 8, “you’ve never left my mind”. As well as, using a close-up sot of his face while he’s lip sinking line 8.

This illustration shows the narrative for the second verse. For the lines 10,11,12 (…“I hate that you're all alone I hate not being home right now so for the times that we can't be together”) we have decided to use a Iraqi female performer who will be holding a cardboard with “I MISS YOU” but in Iraqi with English translation in brackets at the bottom. As well as, showing some images from Iraq that has been caused due to conflict in Iraq.

This illustration shows the narrative for the second verse. For the last line (…“you've got my letter”) (13) in verse 2 we have decided to do a close-up of a beautiful envelope with accessories surrounded by it.

This illustration shows the narrative for verse 3. For lines 14,15,6 (…“I will write it down so I can send a piece of me to you from miles away”) we are going to again use another person to write a letter. We can use over-the-shoulder shot and point of view shot to see him/her write the letter.

This illustration shows the narrative for verse 3. For lines 17,18,19 (…“you're my way out of this dark and distant place I can hear every breath you take”) we are planning to use a young couple (mainly focused on the female performer). We are planning to have both of them in the scene and the camera is going to start from focussing on the female performer while the male performer is at the background but blurred and then the camera will move focus into the male performer and blurring out the female performer.

For the last verse (4), we are planning to show all the performers together but in different scenes. For example, from the grave-yard scene the boy could be walking away from his mum’s grave as he is lip sinking the line and then the scene with the Iraqi female performer, we could also have her walk away from the camera with her back to the camera and the song could end with the person lip sinking the last line and the camera fades away ad turns dark.

Verse 4:

“I've kept you by my side you've never left my mind you got me through my darkest nights I hate that you're all alone I hate not being home right now so for the times that we can't be together yeah just right now while we can't be together please read my letter”

From the previous slide, after the song has finished, we were planning to use a catchy phrase to inspire our target audience. Some of the options of phrases we have are, “A day without you is like a day without sunshine…I MISS YOU!” or “You may be out of my sight but never out of my mind…I MISS YOU!”.
