One generic convention of the Monster: Zombie genre is the plot which is normally a group of people trying to survive or finding a cure for an outbreak. As you can see the group of survivors can be large

or small.

CONVENTION 2: CHARACTER TYPES• DOMINANT MALE, EYE CANDY, GUY WHO MESSES EVERYTHING UP, ETC.

Another generic convention of the Monster: Zombie genre is the character types such as eye candy

which you can see from the Zombieland screenshot. Also you can see the dominant male in the top left as he has the key light on him. This is commonly

seen in this genre. Finally, there is often someone in the group who manages to mess everything up.

There are also many other character stereotypes.

CONVENTION 3: THEME• APOCALYPTIC WORLD, SHOT IN THE HEAD, ETC

Another generic convention of the Monster: Zombie genre are the themes such as

headshots are normally a zombies weakness. This theme is used in all 3 films.

CONVENTION 4: SETTING/LOCATION

Another generic convention of the Monster: Zombie genre is the setting/location. This is usually a deserted town or city overrun by

zombies.
