Producing Creative Texts (Creative Writing)
1600 words, 4 hours writing
Task
• Candidates choose TWO tasks from the Controlled Assessment Bank, totalling around 1200 words.
• Areas: “Moving Images” (watching moving image and developing writing from it); “Prompts and Re-creations” (using a text or prompt to develop writing); "Me. Myself. I." (writing from personal experience.) The two tasks must come from different topic areas.
Two tasks
• Moving ImageChoose one short, memorable scene from a film you have seen. Write the scene as a creative piece e.g. part of a story or a description. Try to capture the same atmosphere as the original film.
• Prompts and Recreations"The door slammed shut, never to be opened again.“
•Write a creative piece e.g. short story or script that leads up to this final statement.
Writing – warm up
You have committed a murder. Write about your day without mentioning the deed.
Think about
• the way that you might write, • the language you would
choose, • the sentences you could
select. 10 mins
Don’t over think this - the idea is to get writing and get your pen and mind working. Your work might be hesitant, jerky, a stream of ideas and worries – get something down and be ready to share.
Review
• As you read over your work
• Pick out • 3 words that you would
change• Your best sentence • One image you have
used
• What did your partner do well?
• What do you like? • How could they
improve?• What is their advice for
you?
