WHAT IS EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION?
Taking a certain action in response to external pressure or obligation Might be done to avoid punishment or earn a specific reward Can actually inhibit behaviours if used at the wrong time Preferences for tasks that are intrinsically or extrinsically rewarded are influenced by culture

Altruism involves the unselfish concern for other people. It involves doing things simply out of a desire to help, not because you feel obligated to out of duty, loyalty, or religious reasons.
