Chapter 1'פרק א

 Ahaseurus makes banquets for his 127 provinces

            

אחשוורוש עושה משתה

Vashti also makes a banquet for the women

           

     ושתי גם עושה משתה

Vashti refuses to come before the king

The king fears that Vashti’s disobedience will affect all the women

Ahaseurus agrees to write a command that every man should rule his house

Chapter 2 ' פרק ב

 

Ahaseurus is preparing to throw a beauty pageant to find the next queen

            

אחשוורוש הכין טקס בחירת מלכת יופי כדי לחפש את המלכה החדשה  

Mordecai had adopted the beautiful Esther as his daughter

            

מרדכי אימץ את אסתר היפה בתור הבת שלו  

  

Esther was brought to Ahaseurus and Esther was the king’s favorite

            

אסתר הובאה לפני המלך והיא מצאה חן בעיניו

  

Esther didn’t reveal that she was a Jew

            

אסתר לא אמרה שהיא יהודיה  

The King loved Esther the most, so he made her Queen

            

המלך אהב את אסתר ועשה אותה מלכה 

The King made a banquet for everyone because of Esther

            

המלך עשה משתה לכולם בגלל אסתר 

Mordecai saved the King’s life

Chapter 3 ' פרק ג

 

Ahaseurus promotes Haman

            

אחשוורוש קידם את המן 

Mordecai does not bow to Haman and Haman gets angry

           

מרדכי לא השתחוה להמן, והמן כעס 

Mordecai told the King’s servants that he was a Jew

            

 מרדכי אמר למשרתים של המלך שהוא יהודיHAMAN

Haman wanted to destroy all the Jews

           

המן רצה לחסל את כל היהודים  

 Haman bribes Ahasuerus to destroy all Jews

            

המן שיחד את אחשוורוש שיחסל את כל היהודים 

The King sent letters to kill all the Jews

            

המלך שלח מכתבים להרוג את כל היהודים

Mordechai tells Esther to tell the King that she is Jewish and that Haman

wants to kill her people.

ד 'פרקללכת 9-12 מפחדת שהיא למרדכי אומרת אסתררשות בלי שהולך שמי חוק יש כי למלך להגיד

.ימותEsther tells Mordechai that she is afraid to go

talk to the King because of the law which states that anyone who goes to see the King

uninvited will be killed.

אסתר 13-14 את משכנע מרדכיעמה על רחמים לבקש

Mordechai convinces Esther to beg for mercy for her people.

HAMAN

ד 'פרקהיהודים 15-17 כל ועל מרדכי על מצווה אסתר

Esther commands Mordechai and all the Jews to fast for her for three days (night and day) and she

will go to the King even if it is against the law.

Esther gets accepted to the King’s palace.

The King asks Haman, “What shall be done to the man whom the King delights to honor?”

done to the man whom the King delights to honor.

Haman does as the King tells him to. He consults with his wife, Zeresh, about what happened to him. He is rushed to Esther’s banquet.

Haman begs for his life and the King gets so angry he needs a “time out”.

he had prepared for Mordecai. .המן נתלה על העץ שהוא הכין למרדכי

'פסוקים א', ב

Mordecai replaced Haman and received all of his property. המלך שם את מרדכי

במקום המן ואת כל הדברים שלו לקח .מרדכי

'פסוקים ג', ד', ה', ו Esther pleads with the King to stop Haman's decree to kill the

Jews. .אסתר בקשה מהמלך לעצור את הגזרה להרוג את היהודים

The King tells Mordecai to write an official decree to let the Jews live.

המלך נתן למרדכי לכתוב גזרה לתת .ליהודים לחיות

The Jews

of the one hundred twenty-seven provinces saying that the Jews could defend themselves against people who would try to attack them.

המלך שלח מרגלים לכל מאה עשרים ושבע המדינות לומר להם שהיהודים יכולים להלחם נגד אנשים שרוצים .להרוג אותם

of Adar, Mordecai rides out in royal colors.

All the Jews are happy and celebrated; many people convert.

He writes that they should be days of feasting and joy, Mishloach Manot, and giving gifts to the poor.

Pur, the Hebrew word for lots, because Haman cast lots to pick which day to kill the Jews.

פורים בא מהמילה פור כי המן הפיל פור כדי לדעת באיזה יום .להרוג את היהודים

They make Purim a national holiday.
