DE CLÉRAMBAULT’S SYNDROME

De Clérambault's syndrome is described as a delusional way of

thinking, in which a woman usually believes that an older man of higher social status is passionately in love with her.

DE CLÉRAMBAULT’S SYNDROME

From research De Clérambault's syndrome suggests that the

delusional behaviour is usually part of psychotic behaviour; typically

schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or borderline personality disorder.

HOW DID I COME UP WITH THE IDEA?

Currently in English Literature we are studying the book

‘Enduring Love’ by Ian McEwan which revolves

around the key event; De Clérambault's syndrome.

SUMMARY FOR MY RADIO DRAMA

A man falls in love with a clinical psychologist. He’s slightly brain damaged following a bad motorcycling accident. The accident also leaves him paralyzed and

in need of a wheelchair.

The clinical psychologist works with a charity called ‘Headway’, which is a brain injury association.

His condition is so intense that he books a wedding date, sends out wedding invitations, and tells all his

family and friends that he’s marrying the clinical psychologist.

MY RADIO DRAMA – TARGET AUDIENCE

For research, I handed out questionnaires on radio drama to sixth formers. From their feedback the majority of people

would likely listen to a comedy or horror/thriller drama.
