Let’s Go to the Kitchen …The RAM is like the countertop …it’s a temporary place to keep things that you’re working on.

If you have a big counter, you can prepare more food at the same time and work more quickly. But if you leave food on the counter too long, it will go bad!

If you have lots of RAM, you can run more programs at the same time and work more quickly. But if your computer gets shutdown, everything in the RAM is lost!

Where do you put things that you need to keep?

Let’s Go to the Kitchen …

The hard drive is like the refrigerator …it’s where you store things you’ll need later.

If you have a big fridge, you can keep more leftovers and ingredients.

If you have a big hard drive, you can keep more files and programs.

The RAM is like the countertop …it’s a temporary place to keep things that you’re working on.

The hard drive is like the refrigerator …it’s where you store things you’ll need later.

The RAM is like the countertop …it’s a temporary place to keep things that you’re working on.

The processor is like the chef …it controls all of the equipment in the kitchen and does all the work.
