Influence of the L1 in the acquisition of an L2 (Reflection) Gabriela Quezada Cabezas As futures teachers to be, it is important that we have in mind some strength and weaknesses about the influence of the L1 at the moment of teaching a second or foreign language; moreover, this will help us to develop some strategies inside the classroom in order to improve the process of acquiring a second language. One of the most important strategies that we as futures language teacher to be need to be aware of is about students’ needs in the classroom, the present that students are living, rather than in the students’ needs in the future. Another important strategy to have in mind is about the type of input that we give to our students because if we as teachers give them an input that is below their level, they will have nothing new to acquire. We need to challenge them in order to have an improvement of the acquisition of the second language. These strategies will help us to succeed in teaching English Language inside the classrooms and improve the currently situation of the lack of knowledge in the schools nowadays.
