The masthead is positioned at the top of the magazine cover and uses colours that fit with the colour scheme of this issue,

Every copy of ‘Billboard’ has the same colours as the masthead, same font and size as well as positioned in the same place. Making the magazine branded and easily recognised by audience’s.

There are sell lines positioned all around the edges of the page, All the writing is in white so easily seen on dark background also abiding with the theme of colours on the cover. Each sell line is showing the audience what will be inside the issue, encouraging potential customers to buy this magazine.

The background is very dark and not very clear. This makes Rihanna, the main image stand out more and the main focus. Looking very colourful and radiant. Rihanna is photographed in what appears to be a very sexualised top which is cut off and has lots of make up on red lipstick on looking straight at the audience.

The main sell line on the cover relates to the main image of Rihanna and shows a quote from the article inside. This quote is important to attract audiences, appealing them to want to buy and read this magazine.

The main image is a very effective photo because it appeals to both males and female. Women aspire to look like her and want to read this article about who the real Rihanna is and men want her. She is very sexualised in the way she is looking at the audience and she has been photo shopped to look ‘perfect’ all these factors will encourage purchases of this magazine.

The footer at the top is the only font on the page that is in yellow resulting in standing out on the page whilst still fitting with colour scheme from the masthead.

The magazine Billboard is published weekly, the first issue was published in 1894. Published by the American entertainment publishing company Prometheus Global Media. Billboard.com is Billboard's online website for the magazine, which attracts more than 4 million unique visitors each month in more than 100 countries. Billboard.com's readers rely on the site for music news, videos, charts and more. The magazine has a high cost of £5.50 in the UK, however this high price maybe due to the magazine been imported from the U.S.

In 2008 achieved a circulation of 18,385, a 29% drop from 2002. Although the target audience of "Billboard is primarily the U.S, the magazine is also published in the UK.
