The school’s library media center is just that: the center of the school. The school’s curriculum, teaching, and activities all rely on what is housed in the library and the ability to use those materials. The walls of the library media center hold a wealth of information about subject areas, recreational interests and “real world” topics. The ability to access this information is defined as“information literacy” and is the key to academic achievement and lifelong learning. This curriculum guide includes Strategies, Resources, and Lesson Plans. These are suggestions for implementation of each objective set forth by the standards. The library media specialist is encouraged to use any and all resources available to provide meaningful instruction and to meet the needs of the individual learner. The goal of the library media program is to help students and educators become active and efficient users of information. engagement with all kinds of reading, cultural

activities, access to information, knowledge

building, deep thinking and lively discussion.
