Objectives

• Highlight theories that support the use of technology in writing.

• Model the use of technology, online story generators, for creative writing.

• Practice using online story generators

DEPR Grade-level Expectations

Through the use of an online story generating program the student will: (W 4 – W12)

-Conceptual: Apply organizational patterns and the elements of narrative forms to create a story.

-Procedural: Write a story using correct sentence structures and punctuation.

-Attitudinal: Willingly use writing in a creative manner.

Lesson DevelopmentLearning Activities:

• After reviewing the story elements, students will work together with a peer to write a short story using an online story generator.

• Teacher will discuss the project rubric with students.

• The teacher will hand out graphic organizers so that the students can organize their ideas for their story.

Lesson Development• The teacher will present the online story generator, My

Story Maker to students.

• Each pair of students will develop their characters, choose their settings and write a coherent story that includes: introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.

• After completing the story, the students can read their work from the Author’s Chair.
