Over the past month we have had a lot of great training going on from drivers training, to ranges, to certifica- tions. All the Aven- gers are working hard to make sure we are set up for success in the future. LT Mawyin ran a range and SGT Dorff ran pre marksmanship in- struction training which went well. Due to this we were able to get over 80% of the company qualified. Great job to all the NCOs who helped train and run the range. On 18 August we had our Pool Party with a lot of interesting diving going on. The competition re- sulted in PV2 Colon winning the belly flop competition; it was also his birth- day that day. He had a surprise visit from his wife as well. We continue to have a lot of new people come to the company. Make sure you take the extra time and effort to meet them and make them feel welcome. Hook them up with the right support if and when they need it. We can’t forget that we are their new family. September is just kicking off and

already 1st Platoon has completed

lots of training.

SGT Dorff, SPC

Pavlich, SPC

Mcmullen, SPC

Lewis, PFC Wil-

liams, PFC Na, and

PV2 Davis all com-

pleted the DCGS-

A NET/NEF on 30

August. The

DCGS course took

2 long weeks, but

they all survived

death by Power-

Point and came

out unscathed and with a better

understanding of the system.

Currently we have SGT Crawford

and PFC Gerhardt working hard at

GEOINT courses. Also, currently in

Driver’s Training are PFC Castillo,

SPC Lewis, PFC Price, and SPC

Mcmullen. Driving can be a danger-

ous activity, but with a know-it-all/do

-it-all kind of Soldier like

PFC Horne as

their instruc-

tor, they will

be more

than pre-

pared to op-

erate our

platoon vehi-

cles.

The platoon

is highly anticipating the

MI academy courses com-

ing up in the near future.

These courses will help our

analysts gain a better understanding

of the Intelligence Process and how

our jobs help to support the Bri-

gade’s mission.

During our last resiliency training day

we had a wonderful breakfast at

IHOP before striking out at the bowl-

ISR Platoon

August was a busy month for

the MSG Platoon. Several train-

ing events, including JRTC,

kept the office

mostly empty

during the entire

month. Ser-

geants King,

Scaife, Lucas,

and Boyce em-

barked on an

epic journey to

Ft. Polk, LA. to be

OCT’s for 4-4

Cav’s JRTC rotation. They

bathed in the luxury of 100

Soldier bays and enjoyed the

wonderful cuisine of MRE’s,

hot A’s and the chow hall for a

full 28 days, and they couldn’t

be happier. The MSG Platoon

also had to say goodbye to

two wonderful NCO’s, SGT’s

Harris, who ETS’d and SGT

Gordon who PCS’d to Ft Hua-

chuca. Both were instrumental

in the success of the unit in

MSG Platoon

Iraq and have served as great

leaders back in garrison and they

will be greatly missed by all. PFC

Guadian also went to the Ammo

Handler course to assist in unit

readiness. SSG Krause played a

big part in unit readiness last

month, as he completed the

SHARP and EO classes; becoming

the EO representative for the

company. The IEW shop also had

an eventful time putting up the

shelter on one of their vehicles.

CW2 Meyers has the battle scar

on his forehead to prove what a

challenge it was. MSG has a lot of

solid training coming up in the

month of September, which we

are all looking forward to.

ing alley for some tough competition

against 4th

platoon. We crushed

them into the

dust in the

first game,

but sadly suc-

cumbed to

them in the

second game,

but finished

off with a

small lead in

the third and

final game. 1st Platoon!

Sadly, all of these festivities must end

as we say our goodbyes to SGT Bald-

win who will be leaving September

10 2012, to go to Korea. Everyone

wish her the best of luck in her future

endeavors.

HUMINT Platoon

To start the month of August, 4th

Platoon trained

on the Biomet-

rics Automated

Tool Kit. This

week long train-

ing refreshed

the minds of the

troops with pre-

vious experience

gained during

deployments

with BATS Systems in order to

maintain mission readiness. For

the new Soldiers this training

equipped them with essential

knowledge needed to assist in

conducting effective operations

in a deployed environment. The

Platoon then conducted a com-

bined Brigade MSO Situational

Training Exercise

with both Soldiers

from 4th

Platoon

and Soldiers from

2HBCT. The train-

ing focused on im-

proving perishable,

low density MOS

skills with minimal

costs. Fourth Pla-

toon increased pro-

ficiency and accuracy of their

MOS skills on average 18% over

the week. This training also

helped prepare Soldiers for a fu-

ture Brigade Field training exer-

cise. SPC Marketon-Snowden

and SPC Vassalli attended both

the Unit Armorer and Unit Ar-

morer Supervisor schools. Several

Soldiers form 4th

Platoon also quali-

fied on crew service weapons. To

end the month, CW2 Davis, as well

as a couple of Soldiers from HHC

BDE left for training and certification

in order to stand up a live environ-

ment training mission here on Fort

Riley, KS. They are leading the way

within the Army, as they are only

one of three FORSCOM units that

have started the process to comply

with the Army Chief Of Staff G2, LTG

Mary Legerie’s guidance. LTG

Legerie’s guidance for MI is that pro-

grams, resources, and facilities must

be provided in order to ensure “No

MI Soldier at rest…No Cold Starts.”

During the month of Au-

gust, SGT Prunty and SPC

Williams went to Fort

Huachuca to attend the

IO/SO course. This is a very

challenging course that

requires a lot of studying,

hard work and motivation.

These two

S o l d i e r s

demonstrated to all of the others their

Never Quit attitude. They are now the

UAV platoon Standardization and In-

structor Operators. Congratulations to

you two. Job well done! SPC Bender is

currently attending WLC. We

wish you good luck. This is has

and is still a very busy month

for flight operations with the

UAV platoon. Operations sup-

porting 1-16 Infantry mortar

they can qualify

We are proud to

introduce SSG

Minter to the

UAV platoon as the new

Platoon Sergeant. He has

been instructing at the 15J

years. He has only been

here a couple of weeks,

but is demonstrating what

Mawyin conducted water sur-

vival training on the 7th

of Sep-

tember for the company again.

We hope it was a great learn-

ing experience and you all en-

joyed it. Again SSG Minter,

welcome to the platoon!
