Background on White Paper published in 2011-12 and its purpose:

• Develop a paper to inform administration and personnel committee on specific scholarship activities in the GFU School of Education

• Incorporate ideas of Ernest Boyer et al – aligned with GFU Faculty Handbook and

Academic Procedures • Develop a guide for faculty to use in preparing annual growth plans

• Assess scholarship activities – guide for dean’s evaluation and faculty’s self-reflection

• Next Step – Implement guide for faculty growth plans for 2012-2014

• GFU Faculty Handbook Expectations for quality scholarship include that each tenured or tenure-track faculty member “be engaged in an ongoing study of the integration of one’s field with the Christian faith.”

How do we assess to what degree our scholarship reflects what we believe & value –

our faith? Integration is mainly an act of attribution –

– an act of humility– an act of honoring or blessing God
