BACK TO SOLITUDE BACK TO SOLITUDE
BACK TO SOLITUDE VOICEOVER• Back to solitude is a short film about a
relationship entirely in reverse. Everything is explained through a voice over- the only dialogue- and subtitles. I feel that the voice over was ridiculously over dramatic but gave the "voice over" a unattached feel. This detachment from the characters made it difficult for myself to become involved with the characters feelings and emotions. This is something that we wouldn't want in our short film as we want the audience to feel like they can relate to the characters. Therefore our voice over will be the voice of the main character.
BACK TO SOLITUDE SHOT COMPOSITION
• I found that the most inspiring aspect of this short film is the shot composition. The composition of their shots help represent the interaction between the characters and I found that the relationships between them are visible to see. I feel that we could use or take inspiration from a lot of their shot compositions to help each shot have a meaning and foreshadow the lack of relationship between our main characters.
This is shot is perfect for out short film as the space between the two characters gives a sense of awkwardness. Also the use of the television for light has obvious connotations of them watching the Tv together but having no interest in each other. This could be used in our short film to make the audience feel in the beginning that there is a break down in their relationship. This will help us hide the fact that he is dead which is a key part of our narrative.
This close up shows the characters emotional reaction to the narrative. I feel that these shots will be great in our short film as it makes the character look very alone as he is the only one in the shot. To use this kind of shot in our film we will have to have a good actor otherwise it will just look fake and will ruin the authenticity.
Shots Which Show Relationships
This could be used in the end of our short film to portray the main characters hate for the new boyfriend.
