SMARTlab @ UCD SMARTlab has three distinct strands of activity:
1. A transdiscipliary practice-based research centre with successful longstanding PhD programmes, MA programmes and ‘buddy system’ community outreach and action research projects, founded and run by scholars who are also artists, educators and technologists who have long encountered difficulties in placing their work in more ‘traditional’ disciplinary
settings;
2. A suite of community engagement and creative industries projects focused on e- inclusion and design for ability, assistive technology, IT for women and girls, and educational inclusivity; &
3. A knowledge transfer centre and sensory studio that operates as a space where local communities can join forces with academics, artists, technologists and game designers to make and test meaningful games
and interactive tools.
