High Academic Standards:Prospective Students MUST meet the Minimum Admission Requirements. No application will be considered if the Minimum Admission Requirement is not met. The academic standards at Alliance International University are Very High and all applicants are tested before confirmation of entrance to the University. Our policy is to prepare all students for Degree Program Exams. To this end, our schemes of work are in line with American National Curriculum and the British National Curriculum and are regularly updated.

Alliance International University is an award winning Educational University that has evolved to simplify our students’ lives. We provide our students with one source of excellence, efficiency, quality and innovation that makes studying in the School simple.

Our staff/student ratio of 1:30 ensures that each student receives individual attention and is continuously assessed. Reports on each student's progress are given at half termly intervals. All students are taught mainly by university lecturers, and, by subject specialists. When necessary we also provide one-to-one tuition.

Listed below is a list of the minimum requirements needed to qualify for each degree. Please review them to ensure that your application will meet your degree requirement.

For the benefit of our many overseas applicants, a usual academic program will have 30 credits per year. So a 60-credit program is a 2- year degree. The bachelor 120-credit program is a 4-year degree. A year of College/University in your home country is valued at 30 credits.

Bachelor's Level Degree Programs (BA, BBA, B.Sc, B.Ed, B.Com, LL.B):“O”/“A” Level, High School Advanced Certificate/Diploma or its equivalent required plus one of the following:

Master's Level Degree Programs (MA, MBA, M.Sc, M.Com): Bachelor's Degree plus one of the following:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Level Degree Programs: Master's Degree plus one of the following:

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA): Master’s degree is required plus one of the following:

Home StudyOnce your application has been processed, you will be notified the outcome immediately. Upon acceptance of your application by the Admission Committee, the Dean of Admissions will contact you with the results of your evaluation and the basis of acceptance. On the other hand, if your application has been declined, the Dean of Admissions will contact you with the results outlining the reasons why your application has been declined, and, you will be given 14 days to appeal.

The Student Enrolment Agreement:After we receive your Enrolment Agreement and Tuition Payment, you will receive your first course by mail/online. You may start, stop, study, review, and re-read assignments on a self- paced schedule. Upon completion of each lesson, you’ll complete an open-book exam and mail it back to AIU. We will grade and return your exam promptly. At the end of your studies students will be required to take their AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored environment in an adequate assessment centre (typically a university testing centre or college


testing centre) near their home where they can take their AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored environment.

Quality AssuranceWe safeguard and help to improve the academic standards and quality of higher education in the AIU Headquarters. Some institutions of Higher Learning offer programmes in many different countries through links with other organisations. We review these partnerships to ensure that the quality and standards offered to students in global institutions are equally available in the programmes available overseas.

After successfully completing the course and AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored satisfactorily, you will receive a Course Completion Transcription Record Form Certificate along with your University Degree. This is for the under-graduate students taking Bachelor Degree Program. For the post graduate students taking Masters or Doctorate Degrees a Dissertation or Thesis will be required on each students in addition to the final exams.

Exams and GradingThe student will be required to sit for her/his AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored environment The AIU sheets for each course will be available at the assessment centre. All achievement exams are supervised, and are submitted to us by the Assessment Centre upon completion of the study and reading assignment for each lesson. The student will be notified promptly of the grade by mail.

Most courses include a mid-term examination and/or a final exam. The following table explains the exam scores and their corresponding grades:

GRADING SYSTEMUnless otherwise stated for a particular course or program, the University awards letter grades in recognition of academic performance in each course as follows:

AIU Students who score below 50 points on any achievement examination will be required to complete another exam on that lesson. Upon passing, a minimum passing grade will be entered as the grade for that exam, regardless of the numerical score of the re-take.

Our pass mark is too high as a guarantee of Quality Assurance of our Degree Programmes to provide a benchmarking system for programmes of higher education be it academic, professional or vocational to ensure that they achieve the standards as set by the Examination Board.

Distance LearningIf you would prefer to learn in the comfort of your own home, we can provide you with either an on line course over internet or self study course with exercises and sample files. Our distance learning based educational delivery system has extended the boundaries of the classroom. The Online program uses the power of the Internet to deliver online learning that is independent of time and location. Rather than gathering in a classroom, students and lecturers interact online or offline a tutorial.

Centre BaseThere are several training classrooms where courses take place in relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Training is provided on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups at our campus in Zambia.

On-SiteFor our corporate clients, we offer On-Site training either on a one-to-one or small group basis in Zambia.


AIU is situated in Zambia. The premises are easily accessible by bus, Train or Car, with a bus stop a few yards from the front door and a private car park at the front.

There are ample teaching classrooms that have been specially designed to comply with health and safety regulations, but provide a comfortable and relaxed environment in which to learn.

The Trustees has the full legal right and is directly responsible for the appointment of Board of Governing Council / Executive Senate and other committees of the Alliance International University.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees has autonomous powers and is responsible for the management and operation control of the University, but it may properly delegate authority with commensurate responsibility to the Court of Governors, and to the Executive Senate of the University.



While it cannot divest itself of ultimate responsibility and reserves to itself the power to act on its own initiative in all matters affecting the University, the Board ordinarily will not act on any matter for its governing document calls for participation of the University community without first obtaining its advice and recommendations. Such advice shall be obtained from representatives of the Executive Senate of the University and the Court of Governors to the Board of Trustees.

Upon Recommendation of the Executive Senate and by virtue of the Authority and Powers vested in them by the Articles of Incorporation The Board of Trustees confers all professional awards of this University.

Executive Senate

The Executive Senate of the University is appointed by the Board of Directors Trustees to be in charged with the regulation and superintendence of the academic, professional and vocational disciplines of the University, and with the promotion of research.

It is on the recommendation of the Executive Senate that all degrees are conferred.

The Office of The ChancellorThe Honorary Chancellor is an eminent public figure elected by the Board of Directors / Trustees, as the constitutional head of the University. The Honorary Chancellor's principal public responsibility has been the conferment of Degrees. The Honorary Chancellor presides with the President and other officials at convocation ceremonies of the University.

The Executive President (International President), Chief Vice ChancellorThe Executive President (International President) Chief Vice Chancellor is theChief Executive Officer of the University and exercise general supervision over all its activities. The Executive President (International President) is appointed by the Board of Directors/Trustees. Under the Constitution of the University, the Executive President (international President) has plenary power and is accountable to the Board of Directors/Trustees for every aspect of the conduct and development of the University and achievement of its mission.

The Office of The ProvostThe Office of the Provost occupies a unique and significant place. The Office and its Provost stand at the intersection of the University’s faculty, staff and student communities. Provost's Office has sought to foster collaboration across the University and manage changes in policies and practices that affect the academic life of the university as a whole. At present, the Provost's office focuses its efforts in the areas of organisational change, cross-faculty academic collaboration, academic and administrative computing across campuses, core values and assets and the well-being of the University community.

The Office of RectorThe primary function of the Rector is to represent learners on the Executive Senate of the University. The office is also used in a more informal way to help learners by providing information and advice. The Rector also has certain ceremonial responsibilities, the most important of which is to join the Chancellor and the President at convocations. The Rector is frequently called upon to represent on University committees, such as those which select the honorary degree recipients.

Court of Governors

The Court of Governors is appointed by the Board of Trustees to supervise over all its administrative governance activities. The Executive President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University.

The Executive Administrator is the principal executive officer. The Executive Registrar and the Executive Bursar are the other principal executive officers.

Our law degrees provide exemption from the academic stage of qualifications as a solicitor or barrister. They emphasize the areas of law required by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority and Bar Council; criminal law, contract law, tort, public law, European Union law, land law, and equity and trusts. They provide a understanding of the context in which those core areas operate. We concentrate on helping you develop the skills to become a successful lawyer and attractive employee in any field. These include communication, problem solving, research and analytical competencies.Teaching on the LLB Law degree focuses on the interactive and dynamic nature of law and legal practice, providing opportunities for legal research, scholarship, and debate at all levels. The programme will help you develop two key abilities: intellectual and an openness of mind that is essential in the modern world. today. IT skills are essential in all industries, not just high-tech companies. The demand for IT professionals has grown so rapidly that it far exceeds the number of university graduates who have the necessary education and skills. According to the Information Technology Association of European Union, ten percent of all jobs in the IT field, a staggering 850,000 IT positions, currently stand open in the Europe. As a result, the Information Technology field offers excellent, long-term career opportunities.

AIU training in Business Administration prepares students for a career in

the real world. Students gain career-focused knowledge and skills in business, critical thinking and communications. Courses include accounting, economics, management, business law, writing, and computer applications.


The training in Fine Arts Bachelor Degree Program in Visual Communication is offered to students with an interest in pursuing careers as animators, web designers, graphic designers; computer- based training developers, Flash animators and other similar professions.

Students can complete their training in just 15 months. The 15-month bachelor's degree program is a 2+2 program and assumes that all associate level requirements have been met through an associate degree or equivalent, otherwise strictly speaking the bachelor’s degree program is 3 years.

An Honorary Degree may be awarded to an individual who has achieved acknowledged eminence in culturalaffairs, in public service, or in a field of knowledge and scholarship. The eventual conferral of an honorary doctorate of the University honoris causashall be evidenced by a Testamur issued under the Seal of the university.It shall entitle the person on whom it is conferred to membership of Convocation and the right to wear the Academic Dress approved for that Honorary Award.Moreover, the honoree shall have the right to refer to himself/herself as “doctor” and permit others to do so as well.

Distance Learning Degree ProgramsBecause AIU degree programs are designed to be delivered regardless of a student’s physical location, there is no residency requirement for AIU unless you have chosen to be placed on Centre base or On-Site training.

The distance learning is designed to benefit working professionals in a number of ways. Classes are offered one at a time, in sequence. There are no semesters, so students can begin a course of study any month of the year. A student can concentrate on one subject at a time, and when a class is completed he or she can move on to the next one until all degree requirements are met.

A student can sign on any hour of the day or night, taking part at times that best fit his or her schedule. While this flexibility is unprecedented, it requires greater than average discipline and does not allow a student to "coast." Students devote an average of fifteen to twenty hours a week to their studies.


What it’s likewith distance education, textbooks and study materials are mailed to the student's home. Clear, comprehensive instructions make it easy for each student to succeed as an independent learner. You study at your own comfortable pace: there are no commutes to class, no lectures, no pop quizzes, and no other classmates to compete with. You decide when and where to study!

Typically, on the first day of the week the lecturer sends introductory information on the week's topic and confirms the assignments, such as reading from the textbook, completing a case study, or preparing a paper on the topic you're studying.

The lecturer also posts a short lecture or elaborates on the material, and provides discussion questions related to the topic. Throughout the week you work on your reading and assignments on your own, just as you would in a traditional classroom setting. When your assignments are due, you send them to your instructor; she/he grades them and sends them back to you with comments.

The AIU curriculum is designed to provide a solid education leading to the granting of a University Degree. All of our courses have been organized and assembled for successful independent learning at home. Our carefully selected textbooks are authoritative, recognized University resources.

When you enrol, you’ll pick up where you left off. Select one of two study tracks: the BA Degree Program, or the B.Ed Degree Program or B.Sc Degree Program. It’s even possible to get credit for past academic achievements and employment Work Experience. You will be given 30 days from the day you enrol to send us your previous school, college transcript and employment work experience references for evaluation of credits.

......Enrolment Policy and TuitionAny student, regardless of race, age, sex, creed, religion, national origin, or cultural background, may enrol in AIU at any time of year. We have no entrance examination for admission. If you are under age 18, you must provide verification that you have completed your high School Advanced level.

For the University Tuition Fees, we accept payment by Telegraphic Transfer (T/T) or money order. If you have been inhigh school or College previously, we will evaluate your transcript for credits earned from prior academic courses you have completed. You must send us a copy of your high school orcollege transcript and your work experience references within the first 30 days of your enrolment.

Home StudyAfter we receive your Enrolment Agreement and Tuition Payment, you will receive your first course by mail. You may start, stop, study, review, and re-read assignments on a self-paced schedule. Upon completion of each lesson, you’ll complete an open-book exam and mail it back to AIU. We will grade and return your exam promptly. At the end of your studies students will be required to take their AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored environment in an adequate assessment centre (typically a university testing centre or college testing centre) near their home where they can take their AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored environment.

After successfully completing the course and AIU assessments in a supervised, proctored satisfactorily, you will receive a Course Completion Transcription Record Form Certificate along with your University Degree. This is for the under-graduate students taking Bachelor Degree Program. For the post graduate students taking Masters or Doctorate Degrees a Dissertation or Thesis will be required on each students in addition to the final exams.

Refund Policies

(a)Enrolled Students may request a full refund within 3 days of Enrolment. A full refund will also be given in the event, that the school discontinues a course, during the period of time within which a Student could have reasonably completed it.

(b)An Enrolled Student may request withdrawal in writing after the initial three day period, but before beginning studies and prior to the seventh day post-enrolment. Such student shall receive a refund of all monies paid, less the Full Enrolment Fee and 30% of the total Tuition Fee for administrative expenses.

(c) No refunds are available on/or after the 3 days post-enrolment

Once your application has been processed, you will be notified the outcome immediately.Upon acceptance of student's application by the Admission Committee, the Dean of Admission's will contact the applicant with the results of the student evaluation and the basis of acceptance. If you have been declined and are not happy with the results you have the right to appeal within 14 days of the notification.

Application DeadlineAIU accepts applications for admission continuously throughout the year. The approval process usually takes from 1 to 2 weeks. Since new classes begin every month, you can start your program as soon as your application is approved.

Acceptance Criteria ......Enrolment Policy and TuitionIn reviewing your application for admission, we will take into consideration your previous academic record, professional experience, and educational objectives. If you have been in high school or College previously, we will evaluate your transcript for credits earned from prior academic courses you have completed. You must send us a copy of your high school or college transcript or your work experience references within the first 30 days of your enrolment.
