Identify the changes in communication channels between employees and management

as Sundown has grown. What channels can be used to make communication about

changes in business most productive.

Firstly, as we know communication channels specify about mechanism or process of the

information flow through within the organization and also with other organization, it also can

be known as constitutional and extraneous flow. Decision and instruction can flow down

from ruler to deputy, up from deputy to their ruler or sidelong such as from and to associates

of the same ranked level of authority.

In the beginning the communication type that been applied in oral communication which are

more personal. Seems the business was small, communication took place face to face often

where the employer communicated directly to each worker. However, once the business

started to broaden and the operation manager took over the floor, the communication channel

changed from face-to-face to written words, email and memos. For instance he created the

employees manual. He transformed the communication from informal to more formal type.

From here we can see that the decision and direction flow down from superiors to

subordinates, and there’s only one way communication which only receiving the orders from

the employers. Consequently, the relationship between old time employees and new

management is not that well built and if Carol Teinchek and Bruce Marshall made personal

efforts to correct this, it would be favorable to Sundown Bakery in future. Effective

communication channel in an organization is compulsory and helps to improve ethical,

increase efficiency and create healthy working bonding among employees and employer or

among workers themselves.

The communication channel types can be influence by quite a few factors like various

culture, intergrity, gender, age gap, classes, generation and etc. Therefore the most fruitful

communication channel that can bring different in this case will be face to face type

communication. In this case we need to be more concerned about employees receiving their

superior’s information and comment get back to their superiors. The communication channel

should be flexible and familiar to the recipients so that information can be shared in timely.

For example, the older generation might less exposure to the use of technology related

communication channel. Social media and ongoing technology based communication channel

might accesible for younger generation compared to older generation. At the same time,

board can organize some team meeting once in a week directly with superiors, as well to

highlights any positive advancement or to give personal acknowledgement for staffs

impressive performance, thus creating a sense of team work or belonging.
