Introduction

O Good teachers need to use a variety of

proven approaches chosen based on

specific needs of students.

Purpose

O Examining the effects of using a balanced

approach to vocabulary instruction on

student’s learning and student’s

understanding of the vocabulary they will

encounter in the classroom.

Questions

O What does the research say about is the

most effective way to teach vocabulary?

O Are the strategies used in the study

effective in increasing student’s

understanding of vocabulary?

O What did I learn about a balanced

approach in the classroom?
