Why PDHPE in schools?

Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is one of the six key learning areas(KLA) within the NSW Primary School Curriculum.

Obesity in 21st century

.

Childhood obesity is one of the most serious public health challenges of 21st century

Over weight and obese children are more likely to remain obese in

adulthood.

Physical inactivity in increasing on a global scale.

Regular physical activity and healthy eating helps to maintain

healthy body and lifestyle.In NSW, 23% of children aged 5-16 years are overweight, where this is aimed to be reduced in 2015. This can be established within school through PDHPE

Lets save our youth through PDHPE.

It is through PDHPE that students become equipped with the skills to benefit their lifestyle both now and for future.

It educates children to:

Eat healthy balanced diet.

Exercise 30-60 minutes daily.

Educated on healthy life style.

IMPORTANCE OF PDHPE IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Provides students with knowledge and understanding, skills , values and attitudes needs to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives.

It promotes active lifestyle and physical activity. Educates Children about safe living- Road safety,

personal safety and safety at home and school. Helps to develop interpersonal relationships. Encourages them to make sound decisions for

their health choices.

PDHPE SKILLS

Children develop skills:- Communicating skills.- Decision making skills.- Interacting skills.- Moving skills.- Problem solving skills.
