Ask students if they usually have breakfast and how important that is. While: Students would watch the video and identify important reasons to have breakfast. Teacher would pause video if needed. Post: Students in groups make a list of food you should include in a healthy breakfast.

Pre: Students are asked to visit a hotel and find out what a concierge does. (This activity is carried out before the class). The day of the class students report to each other their findings. While: Students read an article that describes the concept of virtual concierges. They make a list of advantages and disadvantages. Post: In groups students get different web pages and experience what a virtual concierge is. They finally share in groups their preferences.

Danielhttp:/ / www.nytimes.com/ Goal: Discuss and report news. Pre: Paste lines from the lyrics of the song “Janie’s got a gun” on the way to the computer room. Get students to think of the questions they would have about this story. Who? Where? While: Tell students they are to interview a person who knows everything about the story. Students think of the questions they would like to ask this person. Once they have the questions ready, explain how you can ask these questions about any kind of news. Students are given some time and they are to check any of the pieces of news on the page or check the short videos and answer the WH questions. Post: Students report on their findings. They are shown a “crazy” picture with which they create a piece of news that addresses the WH questions.

Students brainstorm on the kind of gadgets they have at home. While: Students watch the video and make a list of the changes they can identify in the family. Post: Students report on changes. In groups they make a list of the pros and cons of technology. Finally they have a debate.

Post: Students would go to wikipedia and learn some more about food, then share their findings.

While: Students are asked to visit the web page and use the tool provided to book a flight to the place they want to visit. After they have filled out the information they are to get the information of their trip plan: price, destination, length, etc. Post: Students present their information to the rest of the group.

Sts come up with ideas on personality features. While: Students classify themselves as optimistic, pessimistic or neutral people. They are to take a virtual test to see how right they are. Once they get an answer on their personality they are given another web site so they can read more about advantages of having that type of personality. Post: Students are to defend the positive sides of being optimistic, pessimistic or neutral.

www.jobopenings.net Goal: learn vocabulary related to occupations. Fill out a job application form Pre: Students would get a copy with pictures of different occupations. They would choose an accupation and present reasons for their choice. While: They visit the web page provided and find an application form for the occupation they chose. They print the form. Post: Students share their application forms.

Compare real life finance vs. federal debt Pre: Students would carry out a discussion on how they think budget of a country (USA) affects their life. Students would compare their finances with those of a country. While: Each students would be in charge of reading more about federal debt basics, budget and federal debt and other categories found in the page. Post: Students would report their findings and finally they would discuss on what items are important for a federal budget and which they would sacrifice if they have to.

Pre: Teacher and students would discuss how ingenuity is a major factor on inventing something. Teacher would lecture students on how the most significant inventions have not taken many people or resources. Teacher would give examples the wheel, the plane, the antenna, etc. While: Students would visit the page and learn some more about the creative process. They would research on an invention that has the characteristics mentioned by teacher. Post: Students present their inventions to the rest of the class.

They are to analyze some expressions used to speculate and their degree of certainty. While: Students atre asked to watch the video in the link and speculate about what might have/ could have/ must have happened in the story. Post: Students would tell a similar story they have heard or experienced. Their partners are to speculate presenting theories to explain the stories.
