VOCABULARY TIPS AND STRATEGIES

Write Vocabulary o cards ( fun way to review words) Use index cards ( box )

SOME LEARNERS ARE KINESTHETIC : MEANING THAT THEY LEARN THROUGH MOVEMENT!!

Procedure:1)Write up to 5 vocabulary items on each card. 2)Look at your native language side and try to remember the

english equivalents and viceversa.3)If you manage to remember all 5 words-items put the card

in your pocket.4)I f you can´t remember all the words items put it at the

bottom of the deck. Remaining only the cards whose words you still can´t remember.

Music is a great way for learning english vocabulary, grammar, phonetics…..

You may be having a hard time reading an article from the New York times in Literary supplement, but you will MEMORIZE and UNDERSTAND every word from Frank Zynatra or Britney Spears ( depending on your musical inclinations)

Listen to the SOUNDS!!!

The use of song lyrics, movies, tv. Series, documentals, song videos……is very much conductive to English learning!!!

Record a specific word on an audio file or better yet RE-LISTEN TO the text from which you extracted the words in the first place!!!

Use of media to learn English

SOME SCIENTISTS SAY THAT YOU CAN EVEN LISTEN AND LEARN WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!

To teach English is not an easy job but you should never give up about enriching your teaching strategies and working hard to improve your students´learning ….never forgetting about the multintelligences of our students, and remembering that each one them has its own needs and different learning styles!!!!

OUR STUDENTS WILL START TO THINK NOW IN ENGLISH , NOT IN SPANISH ( OR THEIR TARGET LANGUAGE), FORGETTING ABOUT TRANSLATION AND HOPEFULLY THE LANGUAGE WILL FINALLY

BECOME ACTIVE IN THEIR MIND….WE CAN SAY OUR JOB HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED !!!
