The Refrigerator

• The ice has been used to preserve food since ancient times, and the refrigerator is used by most people in the world.

• The capacity of a refrigerator is measured in either litres or cubic feet. Typically the volume of a combined refrigerator-freezer is split to 100 litres (3.53 cubic feet) for the freezer and 140 litres (4.94 cubic feet) for the refrigerator, although these values are highly variable.

• In Mexico, the Federal Government has been created the program Change Your Old One For A New One. The old refrigerators are recycled to recover their components — refrigerant gas, copper, glass, iron, etc.

EVOLUTION OF THE REFRIGERATOR

• The refrigerator has been used to preserve the food also it is believed that more than 2300 years ago, the refrigerator was invented by Chinese, but later the idea of adding salt to ice was conducted by Blas de Villafranca and many years after the first refrigeration machine was invented by Oliver Evans in 1805.

• Subsequently the first machine to create artificial ice was invented by Jacob Perkins in 1834 and it was not used until 1850, years after, the first domestic refrigerator was invented and manufactured by German Karl van Linde and around 1879 it was released time after the first electric refrigerator was invented by Balzer Karl von Platen and Munters in 1923 but after six years Electrolux model was manufactured in series.

EVOLUTION OF THE REFRIGERATOR

• The Electrolux model was Considered as dangerous, because it used toxic gases such as ammonia and sulfuric acid. The refrigerator was invented by Freon invented in 1930, overcame the problem, the next year the chlorofluorocarbon was discovered by Thomas Midgley in 1931 that their property was used in cooling machines. Addition The Refrigerators with two compartments were first marketed by General Electric in 1939.

Conservation and maintenance of the refrigerator

Is necessary to defrost the refrigerator regularly in addition must do cleaning, care and maintenance.
