ThinkQuest Introduction

• ThinkQuest International competition challenges students to apply their critical thinking, communication, and technology skills to a real-world problem

Why IS This Important ?• Our global society has become much more reliant on

creative thinking, innovation, and new technology.• Employers in the 21st century need employees armed

with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to be successful in this society.

• The Oracle Education Foundation (OEF) has defined seven core skills that students need to be successful in an increasingly connected, technology-driven world. By participating in learning projects within ThinkQuest Projects, students develop and hone each of these core 21st century skills

ThinkQuest Projects• ThinkQuest Project– Students develop e-learning projects || Age Division (under 19,

under 16,under 12)

• Digital Media– Students create a blog/journal, website, animation, public

service announcement, photo essay, video, or some combination of these items. || Age Division (under 19, under 16,under 12)

• Application Development– Teams develop a web-based application or game that solves a

problem. || Age Division (under 22, under 19,under 12)

Entry(Project) Requirements• Application Development Event:– A web-based application or game– Teams are required to select one of the following options to

develop their entry:

MUFIX-ThinkQuest Teams• Technical Team- Min of 15 students who (Flash , JavaScript, Java, PHP, MySQL,

Joomla)- Technical Team will be divided as 3 groups

• Coordinators- Min of 3 Coaches- Each Coordinators will manage and connect between

Technical and Data Collection Teams

• Data Collection Team– Min 30 of students – All Students will be divided as 3 groups

What’s NEXT ??A. create the teams by 2 April 2011B. Specify the final Project Ideas by 4 April 2011C. Communication and Discussion between us will be via Facebook

Group (ThinkQuest-MUFIC)D. Start Collecting the required data , Planning and Implementing

the Project by 15 April 2011E. Review meeting on 16 April 2011

– T-shirts , Bags , 6 Java Books and other Giveaways will be given

– 40% e-Voucher discount for any Oracle/Sun Exams will be given F. Review Submitting the projects from 17 April 2011 To 27 April

Conclusion• Each Participates (Coaches and Students) will get a Certification of

Participation from Oracle-ThinkQuest Foundation by the end of the competition

• Every Team will receive “Team Spirit Package “ of funny giveaways• All Participates will get (Oracle T-shirts , Sun Bags and other

giveaways) . Active students or coaches will take Java Book (Hardcopy)

• All Participates will take 40 % Voucher discount for any Oracle/Sun Exams

• Winner Projects will receive free Laptops + A round-trip to Sans Francisco
