In the opening 2 minutes, there is a lot of action of tension which implies that the film is a thriller. The media conventions of thrillers are things like car chase's and missions as they are fast paced and full on tension. This is shown in the opening two minutes of this film. The scene begins with a gloomy light, followed by James Bond appearing and walking down a narrow lightly lit corridor. This was presented to us with a high-angle shot which builds up suspense as it is dark and he pulls out a gun which excites the reader and again emphasises the idea that the film is a thriller. The next shot they have used is an establishing shot. This was to set the scene and show the environment and also present the main character (protagonist). This therefore establishes the main character so the audience know who the main character is. This links to propp’s narrative theory. Furthermore, a close up of James Bond is ten used to show the facial expressions and Later, there is a close-up shot of James Bond and he is looking skeptical, which builds up suspense. This is very common in thrillers and makes the audience more focused on the film because as the suspense is building up, it hints that something soon is going to happen.

Additionally, James Bond’s costume is shown which is stereotypically a secret agent’s costume.

Later, there is a close-up shot of James Bond and he is looking skeptical, which builds up suspense. This is very common in thrillers and makes the audience more focused on the film because as the suspense is building up, it hints that something soon is going to happen. This is therefore a use of mise en scene. There is a mix of diegetic and non-diegetic sound in this shot as there is dialect and a soundtrack.

 The sound they have used during the car chase is a mix of non-diegetic and diegetic sound as they have the soundtrack in the background which accompanies the sound of the gunshots and cars. Moreover, the sound is very intense and puts the audience on the edge of their seat and has built up suspense which is common in thrillers. The environment is very compact which is unusual for a thriller film but this then makes it more thrilling for the audience as it is something
