Associating the number of hours spent on studying with attainment of success is a common mistake that students make. While quantity matters, quality is equally, if not more important. We can’t succeed when we have spent just a few productive hours with books per day and vice-versa.

If you are dreaming of getting admission in one of the best MBA colleges in India, you need to spend long yet productive hours with your books day after day. Here are some tips for you to study effectively:

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”, said Winston Churchill. It is important for you to be in the right frame of mind when you sit down to study. Approach your studies in the right manner and you would be amazed to see the difference in the productivity achieved. For instance, worrying about how underprepared you are or how little time you have, are waste thoughts which are bound to make your mind exhausted. Make the best use of each moment by focusing on the present instead of dwelling in the past or being anxious about the future.

2. An ideal study environment

The place where you choose to study plays a major role. For instance, studying in places that are noisy and full of distractions would constantly disturb you and hinder you from reaching your innermost and vast potential. Choose a room that is conducive to productivity where you can study in peace.

3. Keep your phone away or switch it off

When I was preparing for various entrance exams last year, I could never part with my phone. I often refer to my phone’s ‘online’ dictionary when I am in doubt. While that was a very genuine reason, I could not stop myself from constantly checking my phone for notifications and e-mails. If you are serious about your dream to get into one of the top 10 MBA institutes in India, do heed my advice. Download an offline dictionary and switch off the internet on your phone. That would keep you away from unnecessary distractions.

4. Keep taking notes

If you have time, make sure you take notes of all important points and formulas. You would find it easier to revise your topics during the last few days when you can’t afford to waste

time going through the big books. Taking notes would also help you memorize some of the points which can come in handy in the future.
