Unit 4, 5 and 62 – Feedback The first question on my questionnaire was quite basic and simple just to gather the age range of the audience answering. As the questionnaires were handed out to people in my class the age range wouldn’t be too wide as sixth form college age ranges from 16 – 23 years old or a little over, therefore I allowed three answers being 16 – 18, 19 – 20 and 21+. I handed my questionnaire out to 7 people therefore I gathered a range of answers, the pie chart below shows my results: 16 - 18, 4 people 19 - 20, 2 people 21+, 1 person The majority of the people who answered were 16-18 years old which was expected as that is the main age range of higher education in sixth form. Another 2 people answered 19 – 20 years old and 1 person 21+, this age range is mainly students who have continued further into their studies at sixth form. My second question on the questionnaire was another relatively simple one as there were only two possible answers due to it being a gender question. The high majority of the audience answered ‘Male’ which was 5 people, and the other 2 people answered ‘Female’, I didn’t really know what to expect for this question as I wouldn’t stereotype Media studies as a course aimed specifically at a certain gender. The pie chart below shows my results: Kyle Mckendrick Page 1

Unit 4, 5 and 62 – FeedbackThe first question on my questionnaire was quite basic and simple just to gather the age range of the audience answering. As the questionnaires were handed out to people in my class the age range wouldn’t be too wide as sixth form college age ranges from 16 – 23 years old or a little over, therefore I allowed three answers being 16 – 18, 19 – 20 and 21+. I handed my questionnaire out to 7 people therefore I gathered a range of answers, the pie chart below shows my results:

21+, 1 person

The majority of the people who answered were 16-18 years old which was expected as that is the main age range of higher education in sixth form.

My third question on my questionnaire has quite a wider range of answers which the audience could give as I asked what their favourite type of media project is, then I gave a few examples which they could tick. These examples included Websites, Promotional Videos, Animations, Image Editing and Written work. My results had a different range of answers 3 people answered Websites, 3 people answered Image editing and 1 person selected every single answer apart from written work. From these results I can easily tell that the students enjoy practical work the most, and none enjoy written work. Maybe more practical work instead of written work is a good idea to keep students engaged during lesson.

The rest of my questions are asking for the audience’s opinions instead of giving them a list of answers to put a tick next to, the first question in this section was asking what the student disliked about the media course. The majority of the people answered that they don’t like the written work as after a while it can become boring, three people stated this. Two people’s answers related to the software used in the course, one of these people said that its hard using software they’re not used to but that is the only way to learn, another person added that the software often crashes. The remaining two people answered about the deadlines; however this isn’t a problem which can be resolved as the work needs to be completed in good time so that the qualification can be earned.

From these results I can easily tell that it’s not a good idea to show how much written work is done during the video as it wouldn’t really engage the audience. This question is fairly important as it allows me to see what should and shouldn’t be added in the video.

The next question on my questionnaire asks whether the student prefers written or practical work and why, the high majority of my results stated that they preferred practical work mostly because it is more engaging and fun, one student also stated that they learn a lot more through practical work as they get to use new skills and new software. Six people prefer practical work. The remaining one person stated that it depends what type of work they are doing as they only prefer certain types of practical work. My results for this question have turned out how I expected as not a lot of people enjoy written work. From these results I can tell it’s probably a good idea to shoot the majority of my footage based on practical work.

The next question on my questionnaire asks what ideas the student would use in order to promote a college subject. Three people answered that it would be a good idea to show interviews of past students as the audience know if past students have a lot of good points to share about the course then it must be a fairly fun option to take. Two other people answered relating to entertainment, one of these students suggested to promote the course using a music video as it would be a catchy and engaging way to express to the students. One person answered ‘Short, sharp and to the point with a fair bit of information’ which is a fairly straight forward answer as if I did add too much information to my video then it would become boring for the audience, I need to keep it short and to the point. The remaining person answered ‘Videos on the internet’ which I didn’t quite understand, however I could upload my digital video to the internet in order to put it across to my audience.

The next question on my questionnaire asks if the audience would want to hear the opinions of the past students. Four people gave quite a straight forward answer of ‘Yes’ however another two people went a little more into detail with their answer stating that it is a good idea because the past

students may share tips to future students and it reassures future students whether or not they are making the correct choice hearing it from people who are in a similar position to them.

One person answered ‘no’, but didn’t state why they thought it wouldn’t be a good idea.

The last question on my questionnaire asks what resources the student expects from the college. I received fairly similar answers from all of my audience regarding the obvious equipment such as computers, software, cameras, books, etc. which is a fairly simple question as a college wouldn’t be very professional if they didn’t have the correct software and equipment to educate their students.
