DESCRIPTION

This presentation will show participants why and how to incorporate scriptwriting in their ESL classroom by giving participants the knowledge and motivation to create and use wikis in their ESL/EFL classroom for scriptwriting. The presentation will include a brief overview of why both wikis and scriptwriting should be used in the classroom. The presenter will demonstrate how wikis have been used to create scripts in the classroom, and explain options for using the scripts once they are written (i.e., editing, converting into a story, and dramatizing in front of a class).

What Is Scriptwriting? Students write their own words (and

sometimes actions) to dramatize. Students may write what they will say, the

cues for movement, and other scene-setting elements.

This can be as simple as a short dialogue or as long as a full-length play.

After students write their script, they can act it out.
