Now, find the adjectives in these sentences!
The house was as silent as the grave.
The dog as big as an elephant.
The students were as busy as a bee.
Do you know what these phrases mean?

REALLY quiet, like a grave!
REALLY big, like an elephant!
REALLY busy, like a bee going from flower to flower!
These are SIMILES!
Similes are descriptions that compare one thing to another!
They are like SUPER adjectives!
Similes always use “like” or “as … as”

An acrostic is a type of poem.
The first letter of every line spells out another message or word.
People often use acrostics to remember things for quizzes or tests…For example, the planets!
