In the river there use to be a lot of life until the koi fish came it made the water polluted and have killed a lot of the fish in the Waikato river. Now

we are losing most of the fresh water fish.

The Waikato river is a great place to come for a picnic even just for a run , kids can come with their bikes and ride along side with their parents or even just friends most of the way their can be

side walks .Sometimes out in the country there are places where you can bungy jump off bridges and there are also jet

boats that zoom their way down the river. There is a boat called the Waipa Delta this boat is a nice ride you can have some

lunch or even a beautiful dinner while sailing on the Waikato river. All of these things attract tourists.

The river is 425 km long.It stats at lake Taupo and ends at port Waikato

The river goes through Hamilton and past other little towns like Ngaruwahia, Te Awamutu.

The river use to run past Thames but since a terrible explosion in Taupo the river course changed direction.
