What have you learned from your audience feedback

Audiences

This might seem stereotypical but a simple example of what my audiences would look like is on the left and a person that would not enjoy synthpop genre is on the right. The age boundary would be from 16-25s as this kind of music and media text (video) is very energetic and “load” in its presentation.

Furthermore to appeal to my audiences I have produced and

energetic and entertaining music video, due to colors used, the cast who are young and audiences can relay to them. Also the narrative is

rather intriguing and slightly “blurry” which fits in with the genre ( and the

audiences) as they want to see something new and unknown yet in

their comfort zone.

Accepting audiences “requests”I have asked for request from my supposed audiences through my qualitative audience analysis and I have followed the majority of theirrequirements in order to appealto them.

The two main sources of presentation were:-a love story (more “animalistic”/violent)- Something symbolical- color dust

Steps to appealing to audience.-The color dust – this is the main abstract and ambiguous contribution to the media text I have created. It is a step closer to appealing to my audiences as it reflects the genre of synthpop.

-The love story is what contributes to the pop part of the media text. Specifically in this shot it is presented in a rather romantic and gentle way which is a convention of pop music yet mixed with the rest of the video it is synthpop.

- Also a link of lyrics and visuals is what contributes to the energized atmosphere which is a convention of synthpop and appeals to the audiences. For instance the shots of…

Lyrics/Visuals & Cast

-Synthpop was consciously focused on particularly Eastern European influences. I believe that the fact that my cast is Eastern European has a better affection on the audiences. They can make a better connection and accept the image presented to them in a much more comfortable way.

“Open your arms…”“Where are you taking me…”

“Nothing I’m feeling for you…”

Reverse (stepping away)

(Leading him by the hand)

(stretching arms)

-Some shots are very clearly communicated through the lyrics and visuals and this appeals to particularly my audiences, because it creates an equilibrium of the mystery and abstraction and clarity

Feedback

- Editing is separated – storylines were not over-linking as they should be but were very fixed and tedious.

- Repetition of shots – have to keep the narrative going and so audiences follow the storyline yet storyline should not be fully literal.

- Color dust – The saturation and excess of real lighting rather then artificial made it stand out in a bad way, as if does not belong in the video. However I was determined to fix it as shots were extremely vital for appealing to the audiences .

Improvement

- The original colors do not create the atmosphere which would appeal to my audiences.

-Not only edited color wise but cut the frame as well for a better energetic value as thenegative space was ruining the focus of the image ( the facial expression), which presents freedom and carelessness and fits in with the conventions of a synth pop music video.

- I have totally got rid of the shots with the feather fans as I firstly shot it as I though it would contribute to the metaphysical habitat. However I got negative feedback and myself though it was not app-ropriate so I cut out these shots .

-For making sure there is not too much repetition of shots I have filmed I wide variety andWith different couples. There are 3 couples with different representations and an abstract View of emotions presented through the color dust. I believe this really enhances variety and attentiveness of the music video. Furthermore I have spread the story lines through out thevideo very equally and have also made continuity editing which establishes a logical coherencebetween shots.

Final audiences feedback

These are just a couple of feedbacks I got from my audiences and they are considerably positive. If I had More negative comments I would have continued with the development of my video, however as they are positive I am glad that my product is appealing to the target audiences.
