Welcome to Computers Class with Ms. Wanshon! Please read these rules carefully and share them with your parents. This assignment is due your second day of class, tomorrow! After you have read the classroom procedures, sign your name to the bottom and also have your parents sign and then turn this in for your first grade. Good luck! 1. It’s all about Respect. Respect all adults, respect school property, respect each other and yourself. 2. Raise your hand if you wish to speak. 3. Contribute to your education and the others who are in your class, participate, use great effort, be helpful, be safe. 4. You will be tardy if you should have to leave class because you were not prepared or you are not in your seat doing “bell work” when the bell rings. 5. No late work will be accepted and there are very few opportunities for extra credit. You are responsible young people and in the future your boss will not accept late work and neither will I. 6. If you are absent it is your job to find out what you missed. Consult the assignment board and then come see me on your own time (homeroom, lunch, after school, not during class time) I will be happy to help you out, but it is your responsibility to take the initiative. 7. This class is run like a democracy and a family. Respect others and take care of yourself and do not infringe on other peoples rights. 8. All other major rules are covered in your student handbook, I know them and you should too. 9. GamesThis is a computers/history class. The only games you will be allowed to play are history/educational games. I have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to playing games in class. Welcome to Computers Class with Ms. Wanshon!

Procedures for Ms. Wanshon’s Classroom

1. When the bell rings: be in your correct seat, working quietly on your “bell work” while attendance is taken.

2. When you finish work early: Work on other homework, read silently, or use one of the approved sites. Please do not sit and disrupt class or ask me what you should do, you know what to do.

3. When you have a question or want to add to the discussion: Raise your hand and be called on.

4. When you need to use the restroom: please be aware that you have five minutes between classes and other scheduled breaks to use the facilities. There will be no passes to leave class.

5. When you turn in a paper: name, hour, class name, and date in upper right corner. This is important and it is just good to be organized.

6. Homework: most homework assignments will be graded the next day at the beginning of the hour on a four point scale.

4 points Excellent effort, complete, and correct.3 points Good effort, more than 75% complete and correct.2 points Poor effort, about 50% complete.1 point Little or No effort, less than 50% complete.0 points No materials, No effort.

* Please do your work everyday to the best of your ability. You EARN

your grades, I do not GIVE them.7. Being prepared: Bring all necessary materials to class. You should have a separate notebook and folder for this class to keep all

your work and important papers like this one in. Do not come to class and then ask to go to your locker. It is your responsibility to keep track of your things. Keep all assignments, handouts, reviews, and this sheet so that you can refer to them if needed.

8. 7th Hour- you are responsible for shutting down the computers everyday. They need to be shut down properly!

“This Day In History” Notes

• You must have a notebook to keep just for this class. • It should be labeled “Computers Class Notebook”• In it you will complete your bell work everyday.• Go to www.history.com• Towards the top on the menu bar there is a link titled “This Day in

History” click it.• Pick a topic on the left side and click it.• A event will drop down, click it, and read about it.• Write the date, the event, and two facts about it from the information

given on the site.
