INTRODUCTIONPetronas Twin Tower

KLCC was built on 1993 and the construction finished on 1999.The building itself acted as a multipurpose development area that is located around Jalan Ampang,Jalan P.Ramlee,Jalan Binjai,Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Pinang.There are a number of shopping complexes such as Suria KLCC and Avenue K.There are also hotels within walking distance such as G Tower,Mandarin Oriental,Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel.KLCC was officially inaugurated by the forth prime minister,Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad on national day of Malaysia on 31st August 1999.

1991The plan to build the tallest building in the world

Fourth prime minister of Malaysia,Dr.Mahathir Mohammed was the first man who spark the idea to build the tallest building in the world.

He intend to compete with Chicago and New York.

Kuala Lumpur’s Horse Race Field will become the twin tower’s contruction base.

The man who charged to design the twin tower is Cesar Pelli,Italian engineer.

But,unfortunately,the sketch that made by Cesar Pelli has been rejected by Dr.Mahathir Mohammed.

The reason why his sketch are not accepted because Dr.Mahathir wants the design of twin tower has Islamic characterictic.

So,Dr.Mahathir decided to sketch his own design of twin tower. The design has attracted Cesar Pelli and increase his morality to continue his

project on twin tower.

1993,1994 The construction of Petronas Twin Tower begin

Early 1993,the construction begin with the help of John Dunsford and Bob Pratt.

Because of their excellent reputation and magnificent sagacity in creating skyscraper,Dr.Mahathir hired them to make the twin tower’s plan become reality.

Bob Pratt was assigned to lead his workers to build 1st tower while his rival,John Dunsford take care the 2nd tower.

Bob Pratt and his team start to build the first tower one month earlier.

John Dunsford immediately start his 2nd tower project along with his workers to balance the race between him and Bob Pratt.

Since then,the race was on between them.

But,in Malaysia,there is not enough steel to build the twin tower The only source that available in Malaysia is concrete. It is the only way to build the Petronas Twin Tower.So,the engineer held a

meeting to discuss how to make concrete withstand the weight of that skyscraper.

The Petronas engineer desperately need new formula so that the normal concrete can be hard as steel.

CTL,one of the biggest concrete-test lab in Chicago will be assigned to find the formula that can be mixed with the concrete to make it stronger.

The scientists that work in CTL has faced a lot of failure that makes them almost give up.

They mix the concrete with many elements that available on this earth such as water,stone,cement and many more to increase the concrete’s capability to withstand heavy object.All the efforts are gone to waste.

The last resort is to mix the concrete with sillica.They put it to the test. They expected the result will be the same as the previous test.They’re

completely wrong. The result is astonished both scientist and engineer. The new concrete mixed with sillica can now withstand the whole twin tower’s

weight. Cesar Pelli,John Dunsford and Bob pratt are pleased to hear the news regarding

the concrete.Now,their problems are solved.

1995 Installing elevator in the twin tower and the

alignment of the first tower

Before they proceed with the construction,elevator must be install in the twin tower so that people can access the floor in no time.

The elevator mechanism must be advance in terms of technology. The time taken for an elevator to move to the next floor is 70 second. The engineers are baffled.They are curious on how to make elevator to move at

such a high speed. Finally,they come with a solution.They decided to put elevator on the upper and

lower deck at the same time to minimize the time taken for an elevator to travel throughout the tower.

The engineers are satisfied with the plan they forged.

But unfortunately,another problems appeared. Bob Pratt’s tower are not straight and it bend 25 millimeter. Unfortunately,the bad news are leak to the public and it is a complete

embarrassment for Bob and his team. Bob and his team try to fix this problem carefully by bending the next 16 floor on

the first tower to make the tower went straight again. The plan was a huge success for Bob and the rest of his team. John Dunsford,the leader of the second tower team are aware of this problem

and it become an advantage for him to overcome his rival,Bob Pratt.

1997Malaysia’s symbols of unity and pride.The

Petronas Twin Tower

Finally after six years,The Petronas Twin Tower has reached the sky high. The height of twin tower has already overcome the world’s tallest building

which is Sears tower in Chicago and World Trade Center in New York. The forth prime minister of Malaysia,Dr.Mahathir Mohammad feel so proud and

satisfied with the achievement that Malaysia has ever since the twin tower appear in this land.

Now,the Petronas Twin Tower stand as Malaysia’s pride,victory and modernized country.
