The Virtualization is nothing but a replacement of some physical component with a virtual one or we can also say that it is the creation of a virtual version of something, there are various types of virtualizations such as virtual operating systems, virtual storage devices, virtual network resources and virtual machines.

Virtualization is something that is needed to create a model of anything. Virtual server delivers and receives signals like a physical one, despite the fact that it doesn’t have its own physical components and circuitry. In network virtualization, each server and other components are replaced with logical identifiers, instead of physical hardware pieces. Network virtualization is used to implement an actual network and also for testing environments.

Whereas, Cloud computing is a term that involves sending host services through the internet. These services are classified into three categories: Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service. Cloud computing environments passes data to remote locations with the help of a network route called “cloud”.

Simply, cloud computing is a reference to certain types of vendor-provided network setups, where virtualization is the process of replacing controls and devices with a system where software maintains network’s processes.

Due to the popularity of the services offered by cloud computing, most of the people think cloud as a storage environment, which is supplied by vendors that takes the responsibility of archive and data security.

Higher Availability: During the maintenance period, virtualization decreases downtime that means without effecting one server, changes can be made to the other and without effecting business and causing any interruptions, maintenance can be done.

Increases Power Usage Effectiveness: With the help of virtualization, we can decrease the amount of hardware that is needed to perform certain work. If more power is used, the efficiency of the physical infrastructure is increased.

Privacy: Virtual machines provide security requirements by replicating the desired level of devices or resources, which comes with hard wired devices.

Less Redundancy: As virtualization consists of high level of data centers, the virtualized environment eventually have high fault tolerance.

Virtualization on Small Scale: Instead of non virtualized servers, It is better to maintain and purchase few virtualized servers, which can utilize better the server’s available capacity. Each virtual machine can run its own business applications and operating system, that is needed by a company.

High Amount of Work: In traditional technologies, Virtualization offers more advantages such as storage area networks, large relational databases and virtual local area networks.

Easy Deployment: The main advantage of cloud computing is that it allows you to deploy quickly. In just a few minutes, the entire system can be fully functional.

Unlimited Storage: There is no need to worry about storage space. You can easily store the data in the cloud because it offers unlimited storage capacity.

Cost Efficiency: Compared to traditional technology, the cloud is available at cheaper cost. It can bring down your company’s IT expenses. By utilizing cloud computing technology, you can save your money on licensing fees and eliminate charges such as software updates and storage cost, etc.

Backup and Recovery: It is very much easier to perform both recovery and backup of the data on a physical device. It offers reliable and flexible recovery or backup solutions.

Scalability: Scalability is the inbuilt feature of the cloud computing, you can change your storage or operation needs by offering flexibility, which is suitable to your situation. The instances of cloud are automatically deployed when required.

In today’s business environment, virtualization and cloud computing are the most important concepts. We clearly got an idea that how virtualized environments are utilized in cloud based applications. Both are not competing approaches and individually, they have their own benefits. Both play an important role in increasing the infrastructure and computing resources.
